FAQ – Frequently asked questions

Is this plastic bottle suitable for thicker products such as gels or emulsions?

The disc-top closure is designed to allow convenient dosing of liquid and slightly viscous products, such as lighter gels, emulsions and body or face milks. For very thick formulations (for example butter-like consistencies or highly viscous gels), we recommend first testing the flow and dosing on a small trial batch. Always check that the product passes through the opening without excessive pressure and that the closure closes properly after use.

Can I reuse this bottle for different products?

The packaging can be reused if basic hygiene principles are observed. Before each new filling, it is necessary to clean and disinfect the bottle and the closure thoroughly in order to minimise the risk of microbial contamination and undesirable interaction of residues of the original product with the new filling. For disinfection, we recommend using suitable alcohol solutions, for example IPA 99 % – isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured vegetable. After applying the alcohol, let the packaging dry thoroughly at room temperature and only then refill it.

How should I clean the plastic packaging correctly so that the material is not damaged?

For cleaning the plastic bottle, we recommend using lukewarm water and a mild non-abrasive detergent. Avoid aggressive cleaning agents, strong solvents and very hot water, which could negatively affect the stability of the plastic or the shape of the closure. The packaging is not suitable for washing in a dishwasher or for boiling. After washing, rinse the bottle thoroughly with clean water and let it dry freely with the neck down on a clean absorbent pad. Before refilling, we recommend disinfection with an alcohol solution and complete drying.

Is the plastic material suitable for exposure to high temperatures or for heating the contents?

The plastic packaging is not intended for exposure to high temperatures or direct heating. When in contact with a too hot liquid or when exposed to heat for a long time, there is a risk of deformation of the bottle or the closure, which may negatively affect the sealing and appearance of the packaging. Boiling or washing in a dishwasher is not recommended. Always fill liquid products only after they have partially cooled to an appropriate temperature that is safe for the given type of plastic, and store them away from a direct source of heat and direct sunlight.

How should I recycle the packaging correctly if I do not want to continue using it?

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend recycling it responsibly according to the type of plastic indicated in the product parameters for this item on the Handymade.sk website. Before handing it over for separate collection, empty the packaging, possibly rinse any remaining product and separate the individual parts (bottle and closure) if they are made of different materials. Then throw them into the appropriate collection container according to local waste sorting rules. By following these principles, you will support efficient processing of plastic waste and its reuse.
