Product description

Plastic bottle, clear round, with black foaming pump dispenser, 500 ml

A ready-to-use set comprising a clear round plastic bottle with a nominal volume of 500 ml and a black lever foaming pump dispenser converts a thin surfactant solution into dense foam without any propellant gas. It is suitable for liquid preparations applied to skin, hair, or surfaces as light foam: foaming hand soaps, shower and intimate foams, dog shampoos, brush and tool cleaners, and household cleaning products. The transparent wall shows the contents and the remaining amount, which is practical for a larger bathroom or workshop bottle.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle holds a separate certification for direct food contact; the pump dispenser does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic use, not food applications.

How the set works

  • Foaming without propellant gas – when the lever is pressed, the dispenser mixes a dose of liquid with air and forces it through a mesh to produce foam. No aerosol or pressurised container is needed, and the bottle can be refilled at any time.
  • Foam only from a foaming formulation – foam is produced only by preparations containing foaming ingredients (surfactants). Plain water, a toner without surfactants, or an oil will not foam; the dispenser will simply emit a stream of liquid.
  • Thin liquids only – the dispenser draws contents through a dip tube from the bottom of the bottle and is designed for water-like liquids. A thick gel or creamy shower milk will clog it, resulting in irregular or no foam.
  • Convenient dispensing – the lever is operated with the full palm; the dose per press is listed in the product specifications. For this bottle volume, that corresponds to hundreds of doses per fill.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is intended under standard filling conditions. Total brim-full volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is always slightly larger. The difference accounts for the pump dip tube, the air space above the liquid, and expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Overfilling will cause contents to be pushed out through the neck when the pump is screwed on.

For foaming soaps it is advisable to dilute the concentrate with water at the ratio recommended by the surfactant or base manufacturer. A solution that is too concentrated will thicken the foam and clog the mesh; one that is too dilute produces watery foam. It is worth testing the ratio on a small quantity first.

Suitable for products such as

  • Foaming hand soap – dilute solutions of mild surfactants (e.g. Coco Glucoside, Decyl Glucoside, Cocamidopropyl Betaine) with glycerin and hydrolat.
  • Shower and intimate foam – low-viscosity surfactant formulations with adjusted pH.
  • Pet foam shampoo – convenient for bathing dogs; the foam spreads easily through the coat.
  • Brush, bristle and surface cleaners – aqueous surfactant solutions, optionally with a low proportion of alcohol.
  • Foam facial cleanser – at this volume, better suited for salon use or as a family-size pack.

Good to know

Before first filling, we recommend rinsing both the bottle and the dispenser with clean water, sanitising with a solution of ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, and allowing to dry completely. Before filling, pump clean water through the dispenser several times to remove any dust from manufacturing and transport.

The set is designed for repeated use. If the foam weakens, the cause is usually dried surfactant residue in the mesh or contents that are too thick. The cleaning procedure when changing the refill is described in the FAQ below.

Clear plastic does not protect the contents from light. Preparations containing sensitive ingredients (essential oils, colorants, botanical extracts) should be stored away from direct sunlight. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils, alcohol, or solvents, we recommend verifying the behaviour of the plastic and seals in advance — for example, by running a stability test on a single bottle over several weeks.

Label dimensions are listed in the product specifications. When empty, the bottle should be placed in sorted plastic waste; we recommend unscrewing the pump before disposal and sorting it separately.

Oils, oil serums, and preparations containing solid particles (scrubs, herbal powders) are not suitable for a foaming pump dispenser. Oil does not produce foam and will clog the mesh; particles will block the valve.

Frequently asked questions

Is a plastic bottle with a foaming pump dispenser suitable for foaming hand soap?
Yes, foaming hand soap is its most typical application. A dilute solution of mild surfactants in water is poured into the bottle, and the dispenser produces dense foam with each press. The solution must be water-like. Concentrated liquid soap needs to be diluted before filling, following the base or surfactant manufacturer's recommendation.
Why does the foaming pump dispenser not produce foam?
Most commonly because the contents contain no foaming ingredients or are too thick. The foamer does not generate foam on its own — it simply mixes liquid with air — so water, a toner without surfactants, or an oil will come out as a liquid. Another frequent cause is dried residue in the mesh. Rinsing with warm water and pumping several times with no contents usually resolves this.
Can the bottle and foaming pump set be used for food products, such as oils or syrups?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. The bottle holds a separate certification for direct food contact; the foaming pump does not. Oils and syrups are also unsuitable because the foamer cannot process them — thick or oily contents will clog the mesh. For cosmetic preparations the set is fully declared as suitable.
How much liquid should be poured into the 500 ml foaming pump bottle?
The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume of 500 ml, not to the brim. The remaining space up to the neck serves as a reserve for the pump dip tube, the air space above the liquid, and expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Overfilling will cause contents to be pushed out through the neck when the pump is screwed on, and the bottle may not seal properly.
How are the plastic bottle and foaming pump dispenser cleaned for repeated use?
The bottle is washed with warm water, optionally sanitised with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, and left to dry. The dispenser is rinsed with warm water and pumped several times with no contents so that no residue of the previous fill remains in the mesh and dip tube. When switching to a different type of preparation, cleaning is particularly important to prevent mixing of fragrances and differences in pH.
