Product description
Plastic bottle, clear round, with white screw cap, 1000 ml
A one-litre plastic bottle with a white screw cap is a ready-to-use set for filling larger volumes of liquid and semi-liquid products. The clear wall shows the contents and the remaining amount; the lightweight, shatterproof plastic handles everyday use in the workshop, bathroom, and during transport. The cap screws directly onto the bottle neck, so the set is ready to use without purchasing additional parts.
The 1 000 ml capacity suits every situation where smaller bottles fall short: refill containers for liquid soaps, shampoos and shower gels, larger packs of massage and body oils, stock supplies of hydrolats and tonics, and storage of the water phase or finished intermediates in cosmetics production. Both the bottle and cap are approved for direct food contact, so the set is also suitable for home-made oils, syrups, herbal extracts and juices. The complete set is likewise declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
What the set is suitable for
- Rinse-off liquid products – shampoos, shower gels, liquid soaps and bath foams in litre packaging or as refill for topping up smaller dispensers.
- Oils and oil blends – massage oils, body oils and oil bases, where a larger volume is more practical than several small bottles.
- Water-based products and semi-finished goods – hydrolats, tonics, prepared water phase, salt solutions or stock solutions that are later decanted into smaller containers.
- Household and food use – oils, syrups, extracts and beverages, thanks to the food-contact certification of the complete set.
- Cleaning and utility mixtures – household cleaners and other utility solutions where the advantages are a shatterproof container and easy closure.
Filling and sealing
The bottle has a wide rounded body and a relatively narrow neck, so thicker products are best filled using a funnel or from a filling vessel with a spout. When filling, it is important to distinguish between nominal and total volume. The nominal volume is the quantity for which the container is designed under normal filling conditions. The total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck, and the difference between the two provides a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of contents with temperature changes. Always fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim; otherwise the contents overflow on closing and the neck under the cap remains wet.
Allow warm contents — such as a still-warm emulsion or syrup — to cool to at least room temperature before filling. A warm liquid contracts as it cools and may pull in the walls of a sealed bottle.
The white cap screws on by hand, without tools, and opens just as easily each time. Tighten it with moderate force; over-tightening damages the thread rather than improving the seal. For thin, water-based contents that will be transported or stored on their side, we recommend checking the seal with your specific product by filling and testing a sample bottle first. For the same neck type listed in the specifications, Handymade also offers additional closures — such as pumps or dispensing caps — if you want to dispense directly from the litre bottle.
Useful things to know
Transparency and light. The clear wall shows the contents but offers no protection from light. Products sensitive to light — such as oils with a higher proportion of unsaturated fatty acids, essential oils, vitamin blends or pigmented products — should therefore be stored in the dark or in shade; for long-term storage, consider a darker container. For standard rinse-off products and short-term semi-finished goods, transparency is not an issue.
Undiluted essential oils, fragrance compositions with a high proportion of solvents, and aggressive solvents may attack the plastic over time, causing it to cloud or soften. With such contents, carry out a test with a small amount and monitor the bottle wall and cap for several weeks, or opt for a glass container.
Preparation before first use. Before use, wash both the new container and cap with warm water and a small amount of detergent, rinse thoroughly, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and leave to dry completely with the neck facing down. Residual water in the neck or under the cap can cause cloudiness in anhydrous products and increases preservation demands in cosmetics.
Reuse. The bottle and cap can be reused after washing and disinfecting, provided the wall and thread are free of cracks and the plastic has not been clouded or softened by the previous contents. Check the cap separately — repeated tightening gradually wears down the thread.
Labelling. The rounded body offers a large, continuous surface for a label. Self-adhesive labels with permanent adhesive hold well on smooth plastic; for products used in the shower or at the sink, choose a water-resistant label.
Recycling. The emptied and rinsed bottle belongs in the sorted plastic waste stream; the cap, made from polypropylene, is sorted together with it.
