Product description

Plastic bottle, white, clear disc top, 100 ml

This white plastic bottle with a volume of 100 ml and a clear disc top cap is ready to be filled with liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic products. The bottle is made of PET, a lightweight plastic that withstands the bathroom as well as travel. The white wall hides the contents, so it also suits formulations where you do not want the colour or any sediment to be visible.

The cap opens by pressing down one side of the disc, and the contents flow out through the opening on the other side. Dispensing is quick and one-handed, with no unscrewing. For this reason the set is most often used for shower gels, shampoos, body lotions and liquid soaps.

Suitable uses

  • Rinse-off products – shower gels, shampoos, conditioners and liquid soaps, dispensed by squeezing the bottle straight into your palm.
  • Body lotions and light emulsions – thinner textures that flow smoothly through the disc top opening.
  • Micellar waters and cleansing gels – the 100 ml volume suits travel packs as well as a smaller home batch.
  • Samples and recipe testing – the smaller volume lets you check how a formulation behaves in the packaging before you make a larger quantity.

Thick creams and balms are difficult to dispense through a disc top. For such textures, a jar or a bottle with a pump is more suitable.

How the set works

The bottle has a 24/410 neck finish and the cap has the same thread, so the set is matched and the cap sits on the neck once tightened. Once the clear disc top is open, you can see through it whether any product has been caught in the opening. When closed, the disc protects the opening from dust.

Dispensing depends on viscosity. Thin liquids flow out when you tilt the bottle, while thicker gels and lotions need the walls to be squeezed. The disc top opening lets through more than a dropper or a sprayer, so with very runny contents, such as toners or hydrosols, dispense carefully.

You will find closures with the same neck type and ready-made bottle plus closure combinations in the Handymade range. If you are putting together your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume the bottle is intended for in normal filling. Total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.

Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is filled up to the neck, the product is pushed into the thread when the cap is tightened, and the disc top then sticks or leaks.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in the packaging increases the risk of microbial contamination, especially with water-based and emulsion products.

The set can be used repeatedly. When changing the contents, wash the packaging thoroughly, unscrew the cap and rinse the disc top channel as well, where residues of the previous product remain.

Do not expose the bottle to aggressive chemicals. PET is not suitable for long-term contact with undiluted essential oils, solvents or solutions with a high concentration of alcohol. Glass is more suitable for such contents. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils, check how the packaging behaves in the finished product.

The bottle and the cap are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food; the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. You will find the declarations of conformity with the product.

The bottle is made of PET and the cap of PP. Both materials are recyclable; separate them before disposal.

Frequently asked questions

Is a disc top cap suitable for thick creams?
No, a disc top is intended for liquid and semi-liquid products. Thick creams, balms and butters will not flow through the opening even when the bottle is squeezed. The cap suits shower gels, shampoos, body lotions, liquid soaps and light emulsions, which are dispensed by squeezing the bottle into your palm. For thick textures, choose a jar or a bottle with a pump.
How much product fits into a 100 ml plastic bottle?
The bottle is intended to be filled with 100 ml of product, which is its nominal volume. Physically, more fits inside, but the space above the nominal volume serves as a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Filling to the brim leads to product being pushed into the thread and to poorer sealing of the disc top.
Can the plastic bottle with a disc top be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the cap withstand repeated use. Before filling again, wash the packaging, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Unscrew the cap and rinse the disc top channel as well, where residues of the previous product remain. If the plastic is scratched or discoloured, it is better to replace it.
Can I pour a tincture or a product with essential oils into a PET bottle?
With a high concentration of alcohol or undiluted essential oils, it is better not to. PET does not tolerate solvents or concentrated essential oils, which can damage the plastic. For tinctures and pure essential oils, choose glass. The bottle withstands finished cosmetic products with a usual proportion of essential oils in the recipe, but check how the packaging behaves with your specific formulation.
Is the plastic bottle with a disc top suitable for food?
The set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. The bottle has a separate certificate for direct contact with food, but the clear disc top cap does not have such a certificate. For food use, therefore, choose a closure for the bottle that is also declared food-grade.
