White plastic bottle, clear flip top cap, 100 ml

This set of a white PET bottle with a volume of 100 ml and a clear flip top cap is used for packaging liquid and semi-thick cosmetic products that are dispensed by squeezing the bottle. The white opaque wall hides the contents and limits exposure to light. The plastic is light and does not break when dropped, which is why this format is a popular choice for the shower, for carrying in a bag and for travel.

The dispensing opening in the cap releases the contents in a thin stream, without spilling and without unscrewing the closure. It can be filled with shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, body and face lotions, micellar water, toners, massage and body oils or liquid soap in a smaller pack. The 100 ml volume also makes it suitable as a sample and travel pack for larger products.

How the set works

• Bottle – white, made of PET, with a 24/410 neck finish. It is squeezable and returns to its shape when released.
• Cap – clear polypropylene flip top. It screws onto the neck of the bottle and opens by flipping up the lid; when snapped shut, it closes the dispensing opening.
• Dispensing – the amount is controlled by how hard you squeeze. Thin liquids flow out easily, while thick gels and creamy lotions require a firmer squeeze.

What the set is suitable for

It works best with products of liquid to medium-thick consistency. A thick cream or butter cannot be squeezed out of the flip top opening, so a jar is more suitable for such products. With very thin liquids, for example water-based toners, keep in mind that the stream is fast and the dose is harder to measure. The snapped-shut lid reduces the risk of leaking in a bag. Transport larger numbers of filled bottles in an upright position.

The packaging is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Only the bottle has a certificate for direct contact with food; the flip top cap does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume the packaging is designed for under normal filling, here 100 ml. The total brim volume is larger, because the bottle has space all the way up to the neck. The difference provides a reserve for the thread of the cap and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. Fill the bottle only to the nominal volume. If you fill it to the brim, the contents get into the thread and the cap will stop sealing after a while.

Good to know

PET is not intended for filling with hot contents. Let emulsions and gels cool to room temperature before filling, otherwise the wall of the bottle may become deformed. Store the finished product away from direct sunlight and sources of heat.

Once empty, the bottle and the cap can be washed and used again. When reusing them, check that the flip top lid snaps shut firmly and that the thread seals. Both parts are made of recyclable plastic and belong in plastic waste.
