Product description

Plastic jar, clear with white lid, 100 ml

A ready-made set consisting of a low, wide PET jar with a white screw-on lid, designed for creams, butters and other thick products that are scooped rather than poured. The clear plastic shows the contents and colour of the product, the wide opening makes filling easy and allows scooping with a finger or spatula, and the lid with a sealing insert closes the container reliably. The nominal volume is 100 ml.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products and is also approved for direct contact with food. It can therefore be used for honey, spices, dried herbs, home-made dry mixes or small confectionery.

Why choose this set

  • The jar and lid are a matched pair – both parts share the same thread type, so there is no need to search for a fitting closure separately.
  • Light and shatterproof – PET weighs a fraction of glass and will not break if dropped in the bathroom.
  • Visible contents – the clear material shows the colour and texture of the product, which is appreciated with coloured scrubs, layered butters or when selling.
  • Wide opening – easy filling of thick formulas without a funnel and comfortable dispensing during use.
  • Sealing insert in the lid – when properly tightened, it reduces drying out of the contents and prevents leakage when turned upside down.

What the jar is and is not suitable for

The low, wide shape is designed for products that are scooped. It works best with body and face creams, whipped butters, balms, sugar and salt scrubs, hair masks, cream deodorants, solid shampoos in a pot or powder masks. The jar is not suitable for liquid products (tonics, oils, serums) – the contents would spill when scooping and there is no dispensing mechanism.

With anhydrous products containing a higher proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents (such as alcohol-based products), we recommend testing the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation beforehand. PET is resistant to common cosmetic ingredients, but should not be exposed to aggressive chemicals or concentrated fragrance components.

The PET jar is not intended for hot filling. Allow balms, butters and waxes to cool to a temperature at which they are still pourable but no longer hot before filling – otherwise there is a risk of deformation of the walls or base.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume for which the jar is intended under normal filling. The total brim-full volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a margin for the lid's sealing insert and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The jar should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim – if overfilled, the lid will not tighten correctly and the contents will be pushed onto the thread when closing.

After filling, tap whipped butters and scrubs a few times base-down on a surface to release air from the mixture and allow the contents to settle. Then top up to the nominal volume and only then close the jar.

What to know before filling

  • Container preparation – before first use, wash both the jar and lid, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual moisture reduces the stability of an anhydrous product.
  • Reuse – both PET and PP can be washed and used again, but always check the lid's sealing insert and the thread for any damage.
  • We recommend degreasing the surface before applying the label.
  • Light – clear plastic does not protect the contents from light. Products sensitive to light and oxidation (unrefined oils, certain active ingredients) should be stored in the dark or in an opaque container.
  • Temperature – keep the jar away from direct sunlight and heat sources; at higher temperatures PET may deform.
  • Closures – the set already includes a lid. If you want a different colour or type, closures with the same thread type and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range; when using your own combination, we recommend testing the seal with your specific formulation.
  • Recycling – the PET jar and PP lid are sorted into plastics; before discarding, simply empty the container and separate the parts.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 100 ml plastic jar with lid suitable for food?
Yes, both the jar and the lid are approved for direct contact with food. The set is suitable for honey, spices, dried herbs, dry mixes or small confectionery under normal conditions of use. The container is not intended for hot filling; allow the contents to cool before filling.
Can a hot balm or wax be filled into the PET jar?
No, hot filling is not recommended for PET. Allow balms, butters and waxes to cool to a state where they are still liquid but no longer hot to the touch, and only then fill. At higher temperatures the wall of the jar may soften and deform, which will compromise the seal of the lid.
Why is the jar not filled to the brim?
Because the lid needs room for the sealing insert and the contents expand when the temperature changes. The jar is filled to the nominal volume of 100 ml; the brim-full volume is larger, but when filled to the brim the contents are pushed onto the thread and the lid cannot be tightened correctly. The nominal volume is also the figure stated on the label.
Does the clear jar protect the contents from light?
No, clear PET transmits light. For products sensitive to light, such as unrefined oils, butters with a high content of unsaturated fatty acids or sensitive active ingredients, we recommend storage in the dark or an opaque container. For ordinary creams, scrubs and balms stored away from direct sunlight, a clear jar is fine.
Is the jar with lid suitable for a scrub or cream deodorant?
Yes, the wide opening and low shape are well suited for products scooped with a finger or spatula. Sugar and salt scrubs, cream deodorants, whipped butters and masks dispense easily from the jar, and the lid's sealing insert limits drying out. For scrubs with a higher proportion of essential oils, test the behaviour of the container with your formulation beforehand.
Can the jar and lid be washed and reused?
Yes, both parts can be washed with warm water and detergent, disinfected with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and refilled once dry. Before reuse, check the thread and the lid's sealing insert; if the insert is bulging or has absorbed the previous contents, replace the lid.
