Product description

This white plastic bottle with a capacity of 150 ml and a silver disc top cap is a ready-made set for liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic products that are dispensed by squeezing the bottle. The opaque white PET wall reduces light exposure, which helps protect products containing vegetable oils, essential oils or plant extracts from faster oxidation and fading. The plastic is light and does not break when dropped, so the set is suitable for the bathroom, the shower and travel. The cap opens with a single press and dispenses without unscrewing.

A capacity of 150 ml corresponds to a common pack size for shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion or liquid hand soap. It is equally useful for samples of larger products or for a trial batch of a new recipe before filling larger sizes.

How the set works

A disc top is a cap with a round rocking disc. Pressing one side of the disc lifts the other side and uncovers a small opening, through which a dose is squeezed out of the bottle. Pressing it back closes the opening. Unlike a screw cap, there is no need to search with wet hands for a closure you have put down.

The outer shell of the cap is made of aluminium, and the inner functional part with the thread and disc is made of PP. The aluminium shell gives the closure a metallic look and a cool touch, while the dispensing itself is handled by the plastic part. The white centre of the disc matches the colour of the bottle.

The PET bottle wall holds its shape, yet it flexes when squeezed and returns to its original shape when released. This is exactly what is needed for proper dispensing: you squeeze out the contents with gentle pressure, and the bottle is not permanently deformed when it draws in air.

What it is suitable for

  • Shower gels and liquid soaps – medium-viscosity surfactant-based products flow out of the disc top in a controlled way, and you can judge the dose by how hard you squeeze.
  • Shampoos and conditioners – the opaque bottle hides any cloudiness or colour change in the product, and one-handed squeezing suits use in the shower.
  • Body lotions and lighter emulsions – thinner emulsions dispense without problems, while thicker creams are difficult to squeeze through the small opening.
  • Massage and body oils – the opaque plastic reduces light exposure and does not break when dropped. For oils with a higher proportion of essential oils, we recommend first testing how the plastic behaves.
  • Samples and travel packs – 150 ml is enough for several weeks of use.

Very thin water-based products, such as toners or micellar waters, run out of a disc top quickly and are hard to dose. A bottle with a sprayer or a dropper is better suited to them.

Before filling the whole batch, pour a small amount of the finished product into the bottle and test the dispensing through the cap. If the product hardly flows out of the opening, it is too thick for a disc top. If it pours out in a stream, choose a different type of closure or adjust the viscosity of the recipe.

Nominal and total capacity

The nominal capacity of 150 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling and which is stated on the product. The physical capacity of the bottle up to the neck is larger. The difference provides a reserve for the inner part of the cap and for the air space the bottle needs for squeezing and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill to the nominal capacity, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle is harder to squeeze once closed, and the contents may leak out when it is opened for the first time.

Good to know

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the declaration of conformity is available with the product. The bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food; the cap does not. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetics.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in the bottle dilutes the product and, if the preservation is insufficient, promotes the growth of microorganisms. Follow the same procedure for every refill. Unscrew the disc top and rinse the inner channel of the disc as well, where a residue of the old product remains.

For anhydrous oil-based products with a higher proportion of essential oils, for fragrance compositions or for products with organic solvents, we recommend testing how the bottle behaves on a single piece over several weeks. Aggressive ingredients can soften or deform the plastic.

Do not fill hot products into a PET bottle. Let emulsions and gels cool to room temperature before filling, and protect the filled bottle from direct sunlight and heat sources.

Do not leave a cap with an aluminium shell immersed in water for long, as moisture can remain at the joint between the aluminium and the plastic. Wipe it dry and let it air-dry.

Once empty and rinsed, the PET bottle belongs in plastic recycling. When recycling, separate the cap from the bottle, as it combines aluminium and plastic.

Closures with the same 24/410 neck finish and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you are making your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

What products is the white 150 ml plastic bottle with a disc top suitable for?
It is best suited to medium-thick liquid products dispensed by squeezing: shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, liquid soaps and body lotions. The disc top has a small opening, so very thick creams pass through it with difficulty and very thin water-based products run out uncontrollably. A capacity of 150 ml suits common bathroom products as well as travel packs.
Does the white PET bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the opaque white wall reduces light exposure. Products with vegetable oils, essential oils or coloured extracts are therefore not exposed to direct light, which accelerates oxidation and fading. However, the plastic does not protect against heat, so do not store the bottle in the sun or near a heat source.
Is the bottle and disc top set suitable for contact with food?
The set as a whole is not approved for contact with food. Only the white bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food; the silver disc top cap does not, so the whole combination is intended for cosmetic products. Suitability for contact with cosmetics is declared for both the bottle and the cap.
How much product fits into the 150 ml bottle?
Fill to the nominal capacity of 150 ml, not to the brim. The physical capacity of the bottle is larger, and the difference serves as a reserve for the inner part of the cap, for the air space needed for squeezing and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If you fill to the brim, the bottle is hard to squeeze, and the contents may leak around the disc when it is opened for the first time.
Can the plastic bottle with a disc top be reused?
Yes, provided it is cleaned thoroughly. Empty the bottle, wash it, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Unscrew the disc top and rinse the inner channel of the disc, where a residue of the old product remains. Do not soak the aluminium shell of the cap in water for long. If the plastic visibly softens or becomes discoloured, replace the bottle.
Is the PET bottle suitable for oils containing essential oils?
For common massage and body oils, yes; with a higher proportion of essential oils or fragrance compositions, we recommend a test. Some components of these raw materials can soften or deform the plastic over time. Fill one bottle with the finished product and observe it for several weeks. If the wall stays firm and keeps its shape, you can use the set for the whole batch.
