Product description
A Boston glass bottle with a volume of 250 ml and a white child-resistant cap is a complete set for liquid preparations that need to stay protected from light and out of the reach of children. Brown glass filters the light that accelerates the ageing of oils, alcohol-based extracts and preparations with essential oils. The child-resistant cap cannot be opened by simple unscrewing. The set is therefore particularly suitable for massage and body oils, tinctures and alcohol-based extracts, tonics, concentrates and cleaning or disinfecting solutions where it makes sense to make opening more difficult for children.
Why choose this set
- Light protection – brown glass transmits significantly less light than clear glass, keeping light-sensitive contents fresher for longer in terms of scent and colour.
- Child-resistant cap – the cap opens only with a combination of movements, not by simple turning, which reduces the risk of accidental opening by a child.
- Odour-neutral glass – glass does not absorb the scent of the contents or release it, so the bottle can be cleaned and reused for a different preparation.
- Straight cylindrical body – the Boston shape is easy to label and convenient to fill with a funnel.
- Practical volume – 250 ml suits home-made oils and extracts as well as smaller batches intended for sale.
How the set works
The bottle with a PP28S neck and the cap with a 28/410 thread fit together without an adapter. The child-resistant cap is opened by pressing down while turning. When turned without pressure, the outer shell spins freely and the closure remains shut. When closing, tighten the cap with normal force; excessive tightening does not improve the seal and may damage the thread.
The set is intended for sealed storage, not for dispensing drop by drop. The contents are poured directly from the neck or transferred into smaller containers with a dropper or atomiser. If you need to dispense directly from the bottle, closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. When creating your own combination, we recommend testing the seal and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
Before serial filling, fill one bottle, close it, lay it on its side and leave it for several hours. You will quickly find out whether the cap seals with your contents, especially with alcohol-based extracts and preparations with a higher proportion of essential oils.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for under normal filling conditions. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides headspace for the cap and for expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Filling right up to the neck causes overflow when closing and impairs the seal. The precise values of both volumes are listed in the product specifications.
What is good to know before filling
Preparing the container. Before first use, wash both the bottle and the cap, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. Residual water in the neck or under the cap shortens the shelf life of anhydrous preparations.
Glass and temperature. Glass can handle warm filling, but not sudden temperature changes. Do not pour hot contents into a cold bottle, and do not move filled bottles straight from heat to cold. Fit the plastic cap only after the contents have cooled, to avoid deforming the thread.
Reuse. The bottle can be cleaned and used repeatedly. For a bottle with a child-resistant cap, check periodically that the mechanism still engages properly. Replace it when worn; a replacement cap with the same thread is available separately.
Labelling. The straight cylindrical body of the bottle is suitable for wrap-around and front labels.
Certifications. The plastic cap has a separate declaration of suitability for contact with cosmetic products and for direct contact with food. The set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. Food contact is not declared for the set as a whole, as it applies to the cap only. Declarations of conformity for both components are available on the product page.
Recycling. The glass bottle goes into glass collection, the polypropylene cap into plastics collection. Separate them before disposal.
The child-resistant cap makes opening more difficult, but does not replace safe storage. Preparations not intended for internal use should be stored out of the reach of children even in this set.
