Amber Plastic Bottle, White Disc Top, 300 ml

The amber plastic bottle, 300 ml, with a white disc top cap is intended for liquid and medium-viscosity products that are dispensed by squeezing the walls of the bottle: shampoos, shower gels, liquid soaps, conditioners or body lotions. The amber colour limits the amount of light reaching the contents, which you will appreciate with formulations containing vegetable oils, extracts and fragrance ingredients, whose stability is reduced by light. The bottle is made of PET, is lightweight and does not break when dropped, so it suits the shower and the washbasin, where glass would be a risk. The PP cap has the same 24/410 neck finish as the bottle, and the set is supplied as a matched pair ready for filling.

How the disc top cap dispenses

Pressing one side of the disc exposes the dispensing opening, and the contents are pushed out by squeezing the bottle. Pressing the opposite side of the disc closes the opening again, so the cap does not need to be unscrewed with each use. Contents of medium viscosity dispense best this way. With very thin liquids, such as toners or hydrosols, more may flow out of the opening than is desirable, and a fine mist sprayer or a cap with a smaller opening is often more suitable. We recommend checking how a specific formulation behaves in a trial fill.

What the set is suitable for

• Shampoos and shower gels – thick surfactant formulations are dispensed in small amounts through the disc top, and the bottle returns to its shape after squeezing.
• Liquid soaps and cleansing gels – 300 ml is a volume for ordinary use in the bathroom without frequent refilling.
• Body lotions and conditioners – emulsions of medium viscosity pass through the opening without problems, whereas thick creams would be difficult to squeeze out of the bottle.
• Hair masks and rinse-off treatments – the disc top can be opened and closed with one hand, which is useful in the shower.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in ordinary filling. The brimful capacity is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the thread of the cap and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Therefore, fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim; otherwise the contents get into the thread when closing and squeezing, and the cap does not seal.

Good to know

Preparation before the first filling. We recommend washing the bottle and cap, disinfecting them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and letting them dry completely. Residual water in the neck or under the disc would get into the finished product.

Suitability for cosmetics and food. The cap has a declaration of suitability for contact with cosmetic products. No such declaration is available for the bottle itself, so we recommend checking how the packaging behaves with your specific formulation. The set is not approved for contact with food.

Plastic, heat and solvents. PET should not be exposed to heat or aggressive chemicals. Fill emulsions and gels only after they have cooled to room temperature. With formulations containing a higher proportion of essential oils, alcohol or other solvents, leave the filled bottle to stand for several weeks and watch whether the wall deforms, turns cloudy or releases an odour.

Reuse. Both parts can be washed and used again. Before the next filling, check that the disc still snaps firmly into place when pressed and that the thread seals.

Recycling. The bottle is made of PET and the cap of PP; separate them before disposal and place them in plastics collection.
