Product description

This amber plastic bottle with a 300 ml volume and a pump in a matte white and gold finish is intended for liquid and moderately thick cosmetic products that are dispensed by pressing. These include body lotions, liquid soaps, shampoos, conditioners, shower gels and liquid facial cleansers. The amber colour of the PET reduces the light reaching the contents. The material is lightweight and shatterproof, so the bottle suits the bathroom and the shower as well as the sale of finished products. The pump with a 24/410 neck finish screws onto the bottle, and the contents can be dispensed with one hand, without opening anything.

What it is suitable for

  • Body lotions and light emulsions – a liquid to medium-thick consistency passes through the pump smoothly, and the dose is easy to measure.
  • Liquid soaps, shampoos, shower gels – rinse-off products where one-handed dispensing and a bottle that does not break when dropped are valued.
  • Micellar waters and cleansing milks for the face – the 300 ml volume suits a product for everyday use.
  • Massage and body oils – the pump handles liquid oils. However, check that the pump does not drip after pressing, and that your specific formulation is compatible with the plastic.

The pump is not suitable for very thick creams and butters. The pump draws such products in with difficulty, and the dip tube may take in air. A jar or container is a better choice.

How the dispensing works

One full press of the pump dispenses approximately 1.3 ml of contents. For a body lotion, one dose covers the hands or a smaller area of skin, and for a liquid soap, one wash.

The dip tube of the pump is supplied longer than the height of the bottle. Before first use, shorten it with sharp scissors using a diagonal cut so that it ends just above the bottom. A shortened tube draws in even the last remainder of the contents and does not bend when it reaches the bottom.

The air that enters the bottle as the contents are dispensed comes into contact with the product. For emulsions and products with a water phase, you should therefore plan for proper preservation, as with any packaging with a pump.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 300 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for during normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference provides room for the dip tube and the body of the pump, which take up part of the space once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is filled up to the neck, the contents will overflow when the pump is fitted, and the dip tube will be harder to insert.

Good to know

Preparation before first filling. Rinse the bottle and the pump before use, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Pump the disinfectant solution and then clean water through the pump so that the dip tube and the inside of the mechanism are cleaned as well.

Material sensitivity. Do not expose PET to aggressive chemicals. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils, solvents or alcohol, we recommend testing how the packaging behaves in advance. Fill a smaller sample and observe the bottle and its tightness for several weeks. Do not heat the bottle and do not fill it with hot contents.

Suitability for cosmetics. The pump has a declaration of suitability for use with cosmetic products, and the documentation is available with the product. The set as a whole is not intended for contact with food.

Reuse. The bottle and the pump can be used again after thorough washing and disinfection. Where the design allows, take the pump apart into the head and the collar, rinse the parts and leave them to dry. If residues of the previous product cannot be removed, or the pump draws in weakly, replace it.

Other closures. The bottle has a 24/410 neck finish. You can find other closures with the same neck finish and further ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and the dispensing with your specific formulation.

Before disposing of the PET bottle, separate it from the pump. The pump combines several types of plastic with metal and glass, whereas the bottle itself is pure PET, which is sorted as plastic.

Frequently asked questions

Does the amber 300 ml PET bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the amber colour of the plastic reduces the amount of light that reaches the contents. That is why it suits emulsions, oils and plant extracts, which lose their fragrance or change colour more quickly in light. Dark packaging does not replace an antioxidant or a preservative; it complements them. Store the filled bottle out of direct sunlight.
How much product does one press of the 24/410 pump dispense?
One full press dispenses approximately 1.3 ml. The actual dose depends on the thickness of the product and on whether the dip tube is correctly shortened and primed. A thicker product dispenses slightly less, and a liquid may drip for a moment after pressing. Before selling a finished product, we recommend weighing the dose.
Can the amber bottle with a pump be used for massage oil?
Yes, the pump draws in liquid vegetable oils without problems. Shorten the dip tube so that it ends just above the bottom and draws in even the last remainder. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils, we recommend testing in advance how the PET and the pump seal behave, because the plastic should not be exposed to aggressive substances.
Is the 24/410 pump suitable for a thick cream or body butter?
No, this pump is not suitable for thick creams and butters. A pump with a narrow dip tube draws in thick products with difficulty, takes in air and dispenses an uneven dose. It is sufficient for a moderately thick body lotion with a more liquid consistency. For thick products, choose a jar or container.
Why is the 300 ml plastic bottle not filled to the brim?
The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume of 300 ml because the reserve above it is intended for the dip tube and the body of the pump, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If it is filled up to the neck, the contents will overflow once the pump is screwed on. You will find the total brimful volume in the product parameters.
