Product description

A clear bottle with a white and gold matte pump is a set for 200 ml of liquid cosmetics that are dispensed by pressing: liquid soap, shower gel, shampoo, body lotion, a lighter cream, or a make-up removing or massage oil. The bottle is lightweight and unbreakable, and through the clear wall you can see the colour of the product and how much of it is left.

Both parts are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the declarations of conformity are provided with the product. The set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

How the pump works

The pump has a push head and a tube that draws the contents from the bottom of the bottle. One press dispenses approximately 1.3 ml of product, which corresponds to a common dose of liquid soap or shower gel for one wash. For body lotion or oil, you can adjust the dose by the number of presses.

After filling and screwing on the pump, prime it by pressing the head several times until the tube and mechanism fill with the contents. Only then does it dispense evenly.

The pump tube is longer than the height of the bottle. Before first use, shorten it with an angled cut so that the tip touches the bottom. The angled cut prevents the tube from sticking to the bottom and no longer drawing up product.

What it is suitable for and what it is not

The pump works best with liquid and medium-thick products. Very thick creams, butters, or preparations with solid particles (scrubs, grains, crushed plants) would jam in the mechanism. A jar or a bottle with a different closure suits them better.

This set is commonly used for water-based and emulsion products. The packaging is not intended for aggressive chemicals, so for products with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol, or other solvents, we recommend first checking how the bottle and the pump seals behave with your specific formulation.

The clear material does not protect the contents from light. Products containing light-sensitive ingredients (some vegetable oils, vitamins, essential oils) are better filled into amber or blue packaging, or the set can be stored away from direct sunlight.

If the product in the bottle contains a high proportion of essential oils or alcohol, watch during the first weeks whether the pump draws evenly and whether the packaging changes shape. If it does, choose a glass bottle.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The total brimful volume given in the parameters is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck. The difference is a reserve for the tube and the pump body, which push part of the contents upwards after screwing on. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, the contents would overflow through the neck when the pump is fitted.

Good to know

  • Preparation before filling – wash the bottle and the pump before first use, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and let them dry completely. Residual water in the tube or on the walls could endanger a product without sufficient preservation.
  • Filling temperature – a PET bottle is not designed for hot filling and must be protected from heat. Let emulsions and gels cool to room temperature before filling.
  • Reuse – the set can be used repeatedly. Wash the bottle with warm water and a cleaning product, and rinse the pump by pumping clean water through it and then air.
  • Other closures – closures with the same neck type, which you can find in the parameters, fit the bottle. Ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
  • Recycling – the bottle is made of PET and belongs in plastics. The pump is made of several materials, including metal and glass, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.

Frequently asked questions

Does a clear PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, a clear PET bottle does not protect the contents from light. Light passes through the wall without restriction, so products containing light-sensitive ingredients may lose colour, fragrance, or effectiveness faster. For such formulations, amber or blue packaging is recommended, or storage in a cabinet away from direct sunlight.
How many ml fit into a 200 ml bottle with a pump?
Under normal filling, 200 ml goes into the bottle, which is its nominal volume. The total brimful volume is slightly higher and you can find it in the parameters. The reserve above the nominal volume is intended for the tube and the pump body, which take up part of the space after screwing on. Filling to the brim would cause overflow when the pump is fitted.
Can the pump be used for oil?
Yes, a pump with a dose of around 1.3 ml handles liquid vegetable oils as well as oil blends for massage or make-up removal. With thicker oils and butters, dispensing is slower and uneven. We also recommend checking whether the pump seals leak during longer contact with your specific oil and whether the contents leak out when the bottle is laid on its side.
Is the set suitable for alcohol-based toners or products with essential oils?
The set is declared for cosmetics, but with a high proportion of alcohol or essential oils, compatibility must be checked with your specific formulation. Neither the bottle nor the pump is intended for aggressive chemicals, and during longer contact the packaging may change shape or stop sealing. For pure essential oils and concentrated alcohol-based products, glass is recommended.
How do I clean the pump on the bottle before reuse?
The pump is cleaned by pumping clean warm water through it and then air. Unscrew it, immerse the tube in water, and press the head several times until clean water comes out. Then pump without product until nothing more drips from the tube and the head. Before the next filling, disinfect with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and let it dry.
Why does the pump not dispense right after filling?
After fitting, the pump has air in the tube and the mechanism, so the first presses dispense nothing. Simply press the head several times until the system fills with product. If the pump does not dispense even then, check that the tube reaches the bottom and that it has not stuck to the bottom because of a straight cut. Cutting the tip of the tube at an angle solves this.
