Product description
A brown plastic bottle with a disc top cap is a ready-made combination of container and closure for liquid and medium-viscosity cosmetic products in a 100 ml volume. The bottle is made of lightweight and shatter-resistant PET. The brown tint reduces light transmission, making it suitable for contents sensitive to light – products with vegetable oils, extracts or fragrance components. The disc top cap in gold with a white centre opens by pressing the edge of the disc, and the product is dispensed through a small opening without unscrewing.
The set is particularly suitable for body lotions, shampoos, shower gels, liquid soaps, conditioners and light facial cleansers, i.e. products that are dispensed in smaller quantities and opened repeatedly. The 100 ml volume corresponds to travel packaging, customer samples or smaller batches from home or small-scale production.
Key benefits
- Protection of contents from light – brown PET transmits less light than clear plastic, which slows the oxidation of sensitive ingredients, such as unsaturated oils and certain fragrance substances.
- Easy dispensing – the disc top opens with one finger, dispenses in small amounts and closes with the same motion. It is suitable for the shower and on the go, where a screw cap would be inconvenient.
- Shatter resistance and low weight – PET does not crack when dropped and is significantly lighter than glass, which reduces shipping costs and is safer in the bathroom.
- Appearance without a label – the combination of a brown bottle and a gold cap with a white centre looks complete even before a label is applied, which you will appreciate for samples and gift sets.
- Verified suitability for cosmetics – both the bottle and the cap are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Declarations of conformity are available with the product.
How a disc top cap works
A disc top is a closure with a flat disc that tilts when one side is pressed and uncovers the dispensing opening on the opposite side. The product is dispensed by gently squeezing the bottle – PET is flexible enough to return to its shape once released. Pressing the other side of the disc closes the opening and the contents remain protected from air and contaminants.
The outer shell of the cap is made of aluminium, which gives the closure a metallic gold appearance and rigidity. The inner part that comes into contact with the product is made of PP (polypropylene), not metal. The white centre of the disc also visually marks the point where the closure opens.
Which products is the set suitable for
The disc top works best with products of medium viscosity that flow but are not watery:
- Shower gels, shampoos, liquid soaps – a gel or surfactant base is dispensed accurately and the opening does not clog.
- Body and facial milks – light O/W emulsions are easy to squeeze from the bottle; thick butters and creams are not.
- Conditioners and hair masks with a more fluid consistency.
- Cleansing and makeup-removing oils – oil flows faster, so the bottle should be squeezed gently.
For very thin contents such as tonics, hydrolates or facial waters, the disc top is less suitable – the product flows without control over the dose. For these, sprayers or droppers with the same neck type are more appropriate. For thick creams, blends with butters or products with particles (scrubs) the disc top opening is too small.
Nominal and total volume
For each container we provide two figures. Nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is intended under normal filling conditions. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them is the allowance for the cap and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim – otherwise the product will be forced into the thread when closing and the cap may not seal.
Leave the first fill to stand for a few hours with the opening facing down and check that the cap is not leaking. The seal also depends on the viscosity of the product and how firmly the cap is tightened.
Good to know
Preparation before filling. Before first use, we recommend rinsing both the bottle and the cap, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing to dry completely. Water residues in the thread or disc will dilute the first dose and reduce product stability.
Temperature during filling. PET is not designed for hot filling – allow emulsions and gels to cool to room temperature before filling. Hot contents can deform the bottle and impair the seal of the neck.
Content compatibility. Common cosmetic products – emulsions, surfactant bases, gels, diluted oils – are suitable for PET without issues. For products with a high proportion of essential oils, concentrated fragrance compositions or solvents, we recommend testing the container's behaviour with the specific formulation over several weeks before filling PET in larger quantities.
Reuse. Both the bottle and the cap can be reused after thorough cleaning and disinfection. Residues of old product in the dispensing channel are the most common cause of a blocked opening.
Labelling. The cylindrical shape of the bottle makes it easy to apply a label. Dimensions suitable for a label can be found in the product parameters.
Other closures. The bottle has a neck with the thread specified in the product parameters, so it can also be combined with other closures with the same neck type from the Handymade range. With your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dispensing with the specific product.
Recycling. The bottle is made of PET and belongs in sorted plastic waste collection. The cap combines aluminium and PP, so unscrew it before disposal and sort it separately.
The set is intended for cosmetic products. Neither the bottle nor the cap is certified for contact with food, so do not use them for edible oils, syrups or other foodstuffs.
