Amber Plastic Bottle, Transparent Flip Top, 100 ml

Ready-made packaging for liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic products that are dispensed by squeezing: an amber PET bottle with a nominal volume of 100 ml and a clear flip top cap. The amber tint of the plastic filters light, so contents with vegetable oils, extracts or fragrance ingredients are better protected than in a clear bottle. PET is lightweight and does not break when dropped on tiles, which matters more than appearance for packaging used in the shower or while travelling.

The lid of the cap is flipped open with a thumb, and the product flows out of the opening when the bottle wall is squeezed. You can open, dispense and close it with one hand, which is handy for shower gels, shampoos and body lotions. The 100 ml volume has also proven its worth for travel packs and samples.

Suitable for products such as

• Shower gels and shampoos – liquid and medium-thick rinse-off products, where one-handed dispensing right in the shower is appreciated.
• Body lotions and lighter emulsions – thinner creamy textures that can be squeezed through the cap opening without much effort.
• Cleansing, massage and body oils – amber plastic filters light, as light is not good for oils, and the bottle does not break even in a wet bathroom.
• Conditioners and liquid hair masks – as long as the texture flows, the flip top opening dispenses it without problems.
• Travel and sample packs – 100 ml is a volume that a customer takes on a trip or tries out before buying a larger pack.

Filling and volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. Brimful volume, stated in the parameters, is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. With a flip top bottle the reserve is all the more important, because without an air cushion the bottle wall is hard to squeeze and the product is dispensed unevenly.

Test the thickness of the texture on a single piece before larger production. A thick cream is hard to squeeze through the flip top opening and dries out in the opening once the cap has been opened. Very thin liquids such as toners, on the other hand, spill easily when the bottle is squeezed. A different type of closure with the same neck is more suitable for them.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the neck or under the lid needlessly dilutes the product.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. You will find the declaration of conformity for both the bottle and the cap with the product. This set is not approved for contact with food.

The bottle should not be exposed to heat or aggressive chemicals. In common cosmetic formulations, where essential oils and fragrance compositions are diluted in the oil phase or in an emulsion, this is usually not a problem. Do not fill the PET bottle with undiluted essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents.

The cap and the bottle are made of different plastics: the bottle of PET, the cap of PP. Both materials go in with plastics when sorting waste. After washing, the packaging can be reused, but check whether the lid hinge still holds the lid closed after prolonged use.
