Product description
A ready-to-use set of a brown plastic bottle 100 ml with a black disc top cap: the bottle and cap share the same neck type, so all you need to do is fill and close. The bottle is made of PET, lightweight and drop-resistant, which you will appreciate in the shower, on the go, and when sending out samples. The brown tint reduces light penetration and helps protect formulations containing vegetable oils, extracts, or vitamins.
The disc top cap opens by pressing one side of the disc, and the contents are dispensed by gently squeezing the bottle. The set is therefore suitable for liquid to medium-viscosity products that are used frequently and quickly: shampoos, shower gels, liquid soaps, conditioners, body lotions, cleansing emulsions, or cleansing gels. The volume suits travel packaging, customer samples, and smaller batches of own production. Both the bottle and the cap are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
What the set offers
- Light protection – brown PET transmits less light than clear plastic, slowing the fading of coloured components and the degradation of light-sensitive ingredients.
- One-hand dispensing – open the disc with your thumb, control the amount by the pressure you apply to the bottle, and close it with a single press. The contents do not touch your fingers, which is an advantage for rinse-off products in the shower.
- Lightweight and durable packaging – PET withstands drops, adds minimal weight to a parcel, and does not require the careful handling that glass demands.
- Matched combination – the bottle and cap share the same neck type, the closure seats precisely and, when properly tightened, seals even inside a cosmetic bag.
- Label area – the bottle body provides space for product labelling.
For which formulations is disc top the right choice
Disc top works best with contents that flow in a steady stream when the bottle is squeezed and stop when pressure is released. This applies to gels, shampoos, liquid soaps, and medium-viscosity emulsions. With very thin contents such as tonics, hydrolates, or micellar waters, the dose is harder to control and the contents may flow out when the bottle is tilted even without squeezing. For these, a spray or dropper is more suitable. Thick creams and butters are difficult to push through the narrow disc opening; a jar or pump dispenser is more appropriate for them.
Vegetable oils can be dispensed through a disc top, but thin oils tend to run along the edge of the opening and leave a greasy film on the cap. If you plan to use a pure oil or oil serum, consider a closure with more precise dosing.
Closures with the same neck type and other ready-to-use combinations are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing behaviour, and compatibility of the packaging with your specific formulation.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling conditions, and this is the figure stated on the label. Total brim-full volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between the two serves as a reserve for the cap, an air gap when closing, and the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. A correctly filled bottle is easier to close without overflow, and the contents will not spurt out on the first squeeze.
With gel and foaming products, allow the contents to rest for a few minutes after filling until the air bubbles disappear, then attach the cap. Otherwise, the level appears higher than it actually is.
Preparation, filling, and closing
Before first use, wash both the bottle and the cap with warm water and a mild detergent, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and leave to dry completely with the neck facing down. Residual water in the packaging would dilute the formulation and burden the preservation system.
Fill the contents only after cooling. PET is not intended for hot filling and may deform at higher temperatures, so allow emulsions and gels to cool to room temperature before filling. After filling, tighten the cap by hand, press the disc into the closed position, and place the bottle on its side on a paper towel as a test. You will detect any leakage before packaging the product.
For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils, alcohol, or solvents, we recommend monitoring the behaviour of the packaging over time. Some ingredients may soften, discolour, or affect the scent of the contents, so carry out a test fill and inspect the packaging after a few weeks.
Good to know
- Reuse – the bottle and cap can be used again after thorough washing and disinfection. Before the next fill, rinse the disc opening where product residue tends to remain.
- Content visibility – the brown tint makes it harder to gauge the remaining amount. If it is important for the customer to see the level, consider a clearer packaging variant.
- Intended use of the set – the set is declared for contact with cosmetic products and is not intended for use with food.
- Colour combination – the black cap on the brown bottle creates a dark base against which a light-coloured label is clearly readable.
- Recycling – the bottle is made of PET and the cap of PP, so separate them before disposal to ensure each material reaches the correct recycling stream.
