Product description
Plastic jar 500 ml in brown with a black lid and induction liner is a wide container for thick and semi-solid products scooped by hand or spatula. Brown PET attenuates light, helping to protect the contents from its effects. It is also lightweight and shatter-resistant, making it suitable for shipping. The set consists of three parts: the jar, a screw lid, and an aluminium induction liner that protects the container after sealing until first opening.
Thanks to its volume and wide neck, it is suitable above all for body butters, sugar and salt scrubs, bath salts, face and hair masks, thicker creams and cream deodorants in family or professional packaging. The complete set including the liner is approved for direct food contact, making it suitable for homemade spreads, honey, dried herbs, spices, or other dry blends. All three components are also declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. A declaration of conformity is available with the product.
How the set works
- Brown PET jar – the darker material limits light access to the contents. This is useful for products with vegetable oils, butters, or fragrance components that lose quality more quickly when exposed to light.
- Black PP lid – screw closure with a wide neck that opens easily even with wet hands. Polypropylene tolerates repeated opening and common cosmetic and food contents well.
- Aluminium induction liner – a thin foil made of aluminium, paper, and PET that fits into the lid. After sealing with an induction device, it bonds firmly to the jar neck and creates a visible tamper seal. The customer can see that the container has not been opened, and the contents are protected from leaking and drying out during transport.
Nominal volume and total volume
Nominal volume is the volume for which the container is designed for normal filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck and is always somewhat larger. The difference provides headspace for the lid with liner and for expansion of the contents, for example when the product warms up during storage. The container is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume value is stated in the product parameters.
Practical use
For scrubs and bath salts, simply fill the container cold and close it. Body butters and balms should be poured in slightly cooled and left to set with the lid slightly ajar so that moisture does not condense underneath. Only then should the container be closed. PET is not suitable for filling with hot masses, so the mass should be left to cool to a temperature at which it is still liquid but no longer hot before pouring.
Seal the induction liner only after the contents are fully filled and set. The neck must be clean and dry, otherwise the foil will not adhere around the entire circumference and the seal will not be airtight.
Before first use, the jar and lid are washed, disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and left to dry completely. The container can be reused after thorough washing. The induction liner is single-use and is replaced with a new one after the seal is broken. For contents with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, it is advisable to test PET compatibility with the specific formulation by a trial fill. For standard cosmetic formulations the material is resistant.
Without an induction device, the liner does not perform a sealing function. In that case, remove it from the lid so it does not fall into the contents when opening, or close the container with the lid only.
A label adheres well to the smooth wall of the jar. The PET jar and PP lid belong in the plastics recycling after use; the liner is removed separately.
What is good to know
- Light protection – brown PET attenuates light but does not block it completely. Products that are highly sensitive to light are recommended to be stored away from direct sunlight even in this container.
- Leak-tightness during transport – the screw lid on its own holds thick contents. For more fluid creams or oil scrubs, reliable tightness is ensured only by the sealed induction liner.
- Water-based products – for creams and gel masks with an aqueous phase, repeated scooping with fingers should be anticipated, so adequate preservation of the formulation is recommended.
- Other closures – any closure with the same neck type fits the jar; ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the tightness and behaviour of the container with the specific formulation.
