Product description
Plastic jar, clear, 300 ml with black lid
Thicker products that are scooped with fingers or a spatula need a wide neck and a closure that protects them during transport. This packaging and closure set solves both in one: a clear plastic jar with a nominal volume of 300 ml, a black screw cap and an induction aluminium liner that seals the contents after induction sealing and at the same time indicates first opening. Suitable for body butters, sugar and salt scrubs, bath salts, clay masks or nourishing creams in larger volumes. The clear walls show the colour and texture of the contents, which you will appreciate with coloured scrubs, layered salts or whipped butters, where appearance is part of the product.
The set as a whole is approved for direct food contact, so it also works for homemade spreads, spices, dried herbs, tea blends or honey. It is also declared as suitable for cosmetic products. The declaration of conformity and related documents are available with the product.
Why choose this set
- Wide neck – the contents are easily scooped with fingers or a spatula, the jar is easy to fill and clean, and the neck does not get clogged when scooping.
- Clear plastic – the contents are visible, which helps when selling coloured and textured products. The material is lightweight and will not shatter if dropped, making it suitable for the bathroom and travel.
- Black cap – a neutral contrast to the clear walls, which works equally well with a simple label on the lid or a clean, label-free design.
- Induction liner – after sealing, it keeps the contents tightly closed during transport and protects them from leaking and drying out. When opened, it is clear that the product has not been tampered with.
- One packaging for two product ranges – for small producers who offer, for example, scrubs as well as herbal salts, a single type of packaging is sufficient.
How the set works
The cap is screwed onto the jar neck. The induction liner sits inside the cap and, once screwed on, rests against the edge of the neck. Sealing is activated by induction sealing: the device heats the aluminium layer through the closed cap and the sealing layer bonds with the rim of the jar. The customer then unscrews the cap, peels off the foil and continues using the product with the cap only.
Without induction sealing, the liner serves only as a soft filler for the cap and does not guarantee an airtight closure. If you do not have an induction sealer, only the screwed-on cap provides a seal. For thick anhydrous products this is generally sufficient; for more liquid contents, test the seal in advance.
Filling and volume
Nominal volume is the volume the packaging is designed for under normal filling conditions. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference accounts for the cap with liner and for product behaviour – whipped butters and scrubs may expand slightly when scooped or in heat. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The cap will then seat cleanly on the jar rim and the liner will have a clean surface to bond to.
During induction sealing, the rim of the neck must remain dry and free of product residue. An oily film or salt granules on the rim will reduce foil adhesion and seal quality.
Good to know
Before first use, we recommend washing the jar and cap, sanitising with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing to dry completely. Do not wash the induction liner; it is sufficient to protect it from moisture and dust.
The jar is made of PET. Allow melted body butters, balms and creams to cool before filling until they begin to set. This protects the walls from deformation and the plastic from hazing.
Contents with a higher proportion of essential oils, limonene or solvents may interact with the plastic over time. For such formulations, we recommend a brief compatibility test in the finished packaging and monitoring for hazing, odour or changes to the walls.
The clear packaging does not protect the contents from light. Formulations sensitive to light and oxidation, for example those with a higher proportion of unsaturated oils or with vitamin C, are better packaged in opaque containers, or account for this when selecting an antioxidant and when choosing storage conditions.
The jar can be reused after thorough washing and sanitising, but for each subsequent sealing use a new induction liner. The PET jar and PP cap should be placed in plastic recycling after use. The induction liner is a multilayer material and is sorted separately according to local rules.
Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.
