Blue Plastic Bottle, Transparent Flip Top, 200 ml

A blue 200 ml PET bottle and a clear flip top cap make up a ready-made set for filling liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic products. The bottle is light and does not break when dropped, so it suits the bathroom, travel and selling homemade cosmetics. The cap opens with one hand by flipping up the lid, and the contents come out through the dispensing opening without unscrewing the whole closure.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle on its own also has a certificate for direct contact with food, but the flip top cap does not. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetics.

What the set is suitable for

• Shampoos and shower gels – liquid to medium-thick products are easy to dispense into the palm through the dispensing opening.
• Body lotions and lighter emulsions – thinner emulsions pass through the opening without problems. With thicker creams, dispensing becomes harder and a different type of closure is more suitable.
• Massage and body oils – the flip top dispenses oil drop by drop or in a larger stream, depending on how you tilt the bottle.
• Toners and facial waters – when applying to a cotton pad, a flip top is more convenient than a screw cap.
• Liquid soaps and cleansing gels – for the bathroom or the sink, where the packaging is opened often and with wet hands.

Filling and dispensing

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful capacity is larger because it is measured up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Therefore, fill the bottle up to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents may leak when closing and the bottle may swell in the heat.

The contents are dispensed by tilting the bottle or squeezing it gently. The amount that comes out with one squeeze depends on the viscosity of the product, the size of the opening and how firmly you hold the bottle. For products intended for sale, we recommend testing the dispensing with the finished formulation before you decide on a larger batch.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap in lukewarm water with washing-up liquid, rinse, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely upside down. Do not use hot water or boiling to sterilise PET.

The bottle is not intended for aggressive chemicals. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils, alcohol or other solvents, we recommend testing how the packaging behaves with your specific recipe. Softening of the plastic, cloudiness or an odour after several weeks are signs that the packaging is not suitable for the given contents.

The bottle is made of PET and the cap of PP, so separate them before recycling. Both parts withstand repeated use after thorough washing and disinfection.
