Blue Plastic Bottle, Transparent Flip Top, 250 ml

This 250 ml plastic bottle with a flip top cap is designed for shampoos, shower gels, body lotions, conditioners, facial toners and massage oils, that is, for products that are dispensed repeatedly and usually with one hand. You open the cap with your thumb, squeeze the walls of the bottle to dispense the contents, and the opening closes once the cap is snapped shut. The blue bottle is made of PET, so it is light and does not break if dropped in the shower or on a tiled floor. The clear PP cap shows whether any product has been left in the opening.

The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle itself also has a certificate for direct contact with food, but the cap does not, so the set is intended for cosmetic use.

What it is suitable for

• Shampoos and shower gels – the 250 ml volume corresponds to a standard shower-sized pack, and the contents can be dispensed without unscrewing the cap, even with a wet hand.
• Body lotions and conditioners – a medium-thick emulsion passes through the flip top opening when the bottle is squeezed. Thicker creams are harder to squeeze out, so we recommend testing the dispensing on a trial batch.
• Facial toners and tonics – thin water-based products can be poured into the palm or onto a cotton pad once the cap is open. If you want to spray the contents, choose a closure with a sprayer that fits the same neck.
• Massage and body oils – the oil is dispensed in small amounts, and you can snap the cap shut even with oily fingers.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for under normal filling, in this case 250 ml. The total brimful volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is usually slightly larger. The difference provides headroom for the cap and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature or when the bottle is squeezed. Fill the bottle to the nominal volume. If it is filled to the brim, the contents are pushed into the cap on the first squeeze and the bottle does not seal properly.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Fill only once the contents have cooled, as PET is not intended for filling with hot mixtures.

The flip top seals in normal bathroom use. Before transporting the bottle lying down or in luggage, we recommend testing the seal with your specific formulation. Thin water-based products can leak through an incompletely closed opening more easily than thicker ones.

After washing and disinfection, the bottle can be reused, and the cap withstands normal opening and closing. For recycling, separate the PP cap from the PET bottle; both materials belong in sorted plastic waste.
