Product description
A blue 200 ml PET bottle and a white mini trigger sprayer make a ready-to-use set for water-based and thin liquids applied by spraying. It is suitable for hydrosols, face and hair toners, refreshing sprays, and room and fabric fragrances. The sprayer with a 24/410 neck finish is already fitted to the bottle and matched to it, so you do not need to look for a suitable closure.
PET plastic is lightweight and unbreakable, which you will appreciate for bathroom sprays, a travel bag or a work desk. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the bottle has a certificate for direct contact with food; the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic and household products.
What the set is suitable for
- Hydrosols and toners – thin water-based products pass through the sprayer without problems and land on the skin as an even mist.
- Leave-in hair sprays – thin water-based or water-alcohol conditioners and hair styling sprays.
- Room and fabric fragrances – water-alcohol solutions with a fragrance composition or a low proportion of essential oils.
- Household – water for misting plants and weak aqueous solutions.
Use and filling
The sprayer works on a mechanical principle, without a propellant gas. Pressing the head draws the liquid up through the tube from the bottom of the bottle and disperses it through the nozzle. One press releases approximately 0.12 ml, which is an indicative value for water and similar thin liquids. With thicker contents the dose may be smaller or uneven.
The best results come from liquids with low viscosity. Oils, emulsions and gels clog the nozzle, after which the sprayer drips or stops drawing. If you want to spray an oil component, it must be solubilised in the product or diluted in alcohol to a thin consistency.
The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume, that is, up to the level it is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is larger, and the difference provides a reserve for the sprayer tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If you fill to the neck, the contents are pushed out when you screw on the sprayer.
Before the first filling, rinse the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. After disinfection, spray clean water through the sprayer several times so that no residue remains in the tube and the nozzle. After screwing it on, check that the collar sits straight on the neck. A cross-threaded closure is the most common cause of leaking.
Good to know
PET and temperature. The bottle is not intended for hot filling. Fill hydrosols, toners and alcohol solutions only after they have cooled to room temperature. Do not leave the finished product in direct sunlight or near a heat source.
Essential oils and solvents. Do not expose the bottle to aggressive chemicals. For products with a high proportion of undiluted essential oils or strong solvents, we recommend filling a test bottle and checking the wall, the scent of the contents and the operation of the sprayer after a few weeks.
Reuse. Both the bottle and the sprayer can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. Before the next filling, spray clean water through the sprayer so that residue from the previous contents does not dry in the nozzle. A closure with a damaged collar or a stuck spring will no longer seal and needs to be replaced.
The set is intended for cosmetic and household products. The sprayer does not have a certificate for food contact, so do not use the set for drinks, cooking oils or other foods, even though the bottle itself has such a certificate.
If the white sprayer does not suit you, the bottle has a 24/410 neck finish. You will find closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the seal and dispensing with your specific formulation.
At the end of its life, the bottle belongs in plastic waste as PET. The sprayer is made of polypropylene; unscrew it before disposal.
Frequently asked questions
Is a 200 ml plastic bottle with a sprayer suitable for hydrosols and toners?
Yes, hydrosols and water-based toners are the most suitable type of contents for this set. The mini trigger sprayer disperses thin liquids into an even mist, and one press releases approximately 0.12 ml. Let the hydrosol cool to room temperature before filling, as the PET bottle is not intended for hot filling. Store the finished product away from direct sunlight.
Can I dispense oil or an emulsion with the sprayer on the 200 ml plastic bottle?
No, this sprayer will not disperse pure oil or an emulsion. The mechanical nozzle is designed for water-based and alcohol liquids with low viscosity. Thicker contents clog it, and the closure starts to drip or stops drawing. Oil components need to be solubilised in the product or diluted in alcohol, or you can choose a different type of closure with the same 24/410 neck.
Is the plastic bottle and sprayer set suitable for contact with food?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for contact with food. Only the blue PET bottle has a certificate for direct contact with food; the white sprayer does not. The set is therefore intended for cosmetic and household products, that is, toners, hydrosols, room fragrances or cleaning sprays, not for drinks or edible oils.
To what level should the 200 ml plastic bottle with a sprayer be filled?
The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume of 200 ml, not to the rim of the neck. The space above this level is a reserve for the sprayer tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If it is overfilled, the liquid is pushed out through the thread when you screw on the sprayer, and the closure may leak.
How do I prepare a plastic bottle with a sprayer before the first filling?
