Product description
This 15 ml glass bottle with a black dropper is intended for small quantities of liquid products that are dispensed drop by drop: facial serums, oil blends, tinctures or concentrated active ingredients. The frosted glass softens direct light while showing how much content is left in the bottle. The black dropper with a tamper-evident ring dispenses drop by drop and lets the customer know on first opening that the packaging has not been used yet. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products and is intended for cosmetics; you will find the declaration of conformity with the product.
What it is suitable for
- Facial serums – both water-based and oil-based, where a few drops are applied to the palm or directly to the skin.
- Oil blends and facial oils – a small volume can be used up before the oil starts to lose quality.
- Essential oil blends – diluted in a carrier oil for massage, for a diffuser or as a perfume oil.
- Tinctures and alcoholic extracts – the dropper makes it easier to measure the dose into a cosmetic product.
- Serum for lashes, eyebrows and cuticles – products dispensed one drop at a time, for which a small volume is suitable.
- Samples and test batches – when developing a formulation or handing a sample to a customer.
The dropper is not suitable for thick creams, gels and emulsions with higher viscosity. Such content is either not drawn into the glass tube or drips from it very slowly.
Nominal and total volume
The bottle is intended to be filled with 15 ml, which is its nominal volume. The brimful volume, that is, the physical volume up to the neck, is slightly larger. The difference between the two values is a reserve for the dropper tube, which pushes part of the content upwards when screwed in, and for the expansion of the liquid when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is filled up to the neck, the content is pushed out after the dropper is fitted and seeps under the thread.
Before filling a larger batch, test the fill level on a single piece: fill 15 ml, fit the dropper and check that the content does not leak at the thread and that the tube dips comfortably below the surface.
Working with the dropper
The dropper consists of a glass tube, a silicone bulb and a plastic closure with a thread. To dispense, squeeze the bulb, dip the tube below the surface, release, and then squeeze gently again above the application area. The size of the drop depends on the viscosity of the content and on how quickly you squeeze the bulb. With oils, the drop is usually larger than with aqueous solutions. For products with a declared dose, we therefore recommend verifying the number of drops per dose with the specific formulation.
The tamper-evident ring is attached to the closure and separates on first unscrewing. For the customer, it is visible proof that the packaging has not been opened. After the first opening, the dropper is screwed and unscrewed as usual, and the ring no longer affects its function.
Closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations of a bottle with a dropper, sprayer or cap can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend verifying the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in the tube or in the bottle would get into the content of an anhydrous product and, in a water-based product, would dilute the preservative system.
Frosted glass softens direct light, but the content remains partly visible. For ingredients sensitive to light, such as some essential oils or vitamin serums, amber or blue glass gives better protection. For ordinary facial oils and serums that are kept in a cupboard or in a box, a frosted bottle is sufficient.
Glass does not react with essential oils or with alcohol, so the bottle is also suitable for concentrated blends. The silicone bulb and the plastic parts of the dropper come into contact with the content only during dispensing. For long-term storage of undiluted essential oils or solvents, we recommend verifying in practice how the bulb and the seal behave. After use, do not leave the dropper filled for a long time; the content is returned to the bottle by squeezing the bulb.
The glass tube of the dropper is fragile. Do not force it into the neck when fitting it. If dropped, it can break even when the bottle itself stays intact. Glass also does not tolerate sudden temperature changes, so the content should only be filled into the bottle after it has cooled.
After thorough washing and disinfection, the bottle can be reused. When refilling, we recommend taking the dropper apart, rinsing the bulb and the tube with alcohol and checking that the silicone has not lost its elasticity. A glass bottle belongs in glass recycling. The dropper is sorted by its predominant material, so separate the plastic closure with the bulb from the glass tube before disposal.
