Product description

Glass bottle, blue, black dropper, 15 ml

Glass bottle with black dropper 15 ml is a complete set consisting of a small vial made of blue glass and a dropper with a tamper-evident ring. It is suitable wherever the contents are dispensed drop by drop and also need protection from light: for facial serums, oil blends for the face and cuticles, diluted essential oil blends, tinctures, or test samples of formulations.

Blue glass reduces light penetration to the contents, which slows down the changes that light causes in oils, fragrances, and sensitive active ingredients. The dropper allows you to take exactly as much as needed at the time. The remaining contents stay in the closed bottle without unnecessary contact with air and fingers.

How the set works

  • Blue glass – protects the contents from light, while when held up to the light the fill level remains approximately visible. Glass does not react with oils, alcohol, or aqueous solutions.
  • Dropper – consists of a glass tube, a silicone bulb, and a plastic screw ring. The tube length is matched to the bottle so that contents can be drawn up even from a lower fill level.
  • Tamper-evident ring – tears off on first opening and gives the customer a clear indication that the product has not yet been opened by anyone. For cosmetics manufacturers, this is a practical safeguard both when selling and when distributing samples.
  • Drop-by-drop dosing – suitable for concentrated products where a small amount is used per application. Enables precise dosing without spilling or overpouring.

Suitability for contact with cosmetic products is declared for the dropper. The set is intended for cosmetic and technical use, not for food.

Suitable especially for

  • Facial and oil serums – the small volume matches the consumption when applying a few drops to the face daily.
  • Oil blends with essential oils – for example diluted massage or aromatherapy blends, where blue glass helps protect the fragrant components.
  • Cuticle oil, moustache and beard oil – products applied precisely, where the dropper simplifies dosing.
  • Tinctures and alcoholic extracts – glass does not react with alcohol and drop dosing is standard for tinctures.
  • Samples and test batches – when developing formulations, a small volume holds enough to evaluate stability and fragrance.

For aqueous products without preservation, the set is suitable only for short-term samples. With each use, air enters the bottle and the dropper makes contact with the contents. Commercial aqueous products in a dropper bottle therefore require a suitable preservation system.

Nominal and total volume

The bottle has a nominal volume, meaning the volume it is designed for during normal filling, and a total volume to the brim, meaning the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is the allowance for the glass tube of the dropper, which takes up some space once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If filled to the neck, screwing in the dropper would force the contents out through the thread and the bottle could leak.

When filling several bottles at once, measure the nominal volume once using a measuring cup or syringe and mark the fill level. You can then fill the remaining bottles by the fill line without weighing each one.

Good to know

Preparation before first filling. We recommend washing and disinfecting the bottle and dropper with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol before use and allowing them to dry completely. Water residues in an oil product can cause cloudiness or promote the growth of microorganisms.

Silicone bulb and essential oils. The glass parts are resistant to concentrated essential oils. With prolonged contact of the bulb with undiluted essential oils or with a high proportion of solvents, we recommend monitoring its behaviour over time, as elastic components may soften or change in volume with certain ingredients. With diluted blends and common cosmetic oils, this issue is not typical.

Reuse. The glass can be reused after thorough washing and drying. For the dropper, it is important to also rinse the inside of the glass tube and bulb; otherwise, residues of the previous contents would contaminate the new filling. The tamper-evident ring cannot be restored after the first opening.

Labelling. A narrow label wrapping around the body suits the small-diameter cylindrical bottle. Light-coloured labels or transparent films with white printing stand out well on blue glass.

Glass and heat. The bottle is not intended for filling with hot contents or for sudden temperature changes. Allow hot-process products to cool before filling.

Recycling. The glass bottle belongs in the glass recycling. The dropper is a combination of glass, silicone, and plastic, so it should be disassembled and sorted by material before recycling.

The dropper comes into contact with both the contents and the surroundings with each use. For leave-on products, therefore avoid contact between the glass tube and the skin. Apply the drops to the fingers or directly onto the skin without touching, and return the tube straight to the bottle.

Closures with the same neck type as this bottle, and further ready-made combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. When combining the bottle with a different closure of your own choice, we recommend checking the seal, dosing, and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does blue glass protect the contents of the bottle from light?
Yes, blue glass reduces light penetration to the contents and helps slow down the changes that light causes in oils, essential oils, and sensitive active ingredients. It is not complete darkness as with an opaque container, so store filled bottles away from direct sunlight. Blue glass also allows the fill level to be approximately visible.
How much can actually be filled into the 15 ml glass bottle with dropper?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 15 ml, not to the brim. The physical volume to the neck is larger, but this difference is the allowance for the glass tube of the dropper and for the expansion of the contents during temperature changes. If overfilled, the contents will be forced out through the thread when the dropper is screwed in and the bottle may leak.
Is the 15 ml glass bottle with dropper suitable for essential oils?
For diluted essential oil blends in a carrier oil, the set is suitable and blue glass protects the fragrant components from light. For undiluted essential oils, the glass parts are resistant, but the silicone bulb of the dropper may soften with prolonged contact with some concentrated oils. We recommend monitoring the dropper's behaviour with the specific oil over time.
How are the glass bottle and dropper cleaned before filling?
Wash the bottle and dropper, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow to dry completely. For the dropper, also rinse the inside of the glass tube and bulb by repeatedly drawing in and expelling the cleaning solution. Moisture in the bottle can cause cloudiness in an oil product and impair microbiological stability.
What is the tamper-evident ring on the dropper for?
The tamper-evident ring tears off on first opening and shows that the bottle has not yet been opened. It is a practical safeguard both when selling finished products and when handing out samples to customers. Once torn off, the ring cannot be restored, so when the bottle is refilled it no longer serves this function.
Can an aqueous product, such as a toner, be filled into the glass dropper bottle?
Yes, glass does not react with aqueous solutions, but an aqueous product in a dropper bottle requires a suitable preservation system. With each use, air enters the bottle and the dropper makes contact with the contents, which increases the risk of microbial contamination. Unpreserved aqueous products are only suitable for short-term test samples.
