Product description

A glass bottle with a dropper in a volume of 15 ml is a small set designed for concentrated cosmetic preparations that are dispensed drop by drop. Brown glass protects the contents from light, and the dropper measures out small amounts without your fingers touching the contents. It is particularly suitable for facial serums, oil blends, essential oil mixtures in a carrier oil, tinctures, and concentrated active ingredients that are added to formulations in small doses.

The bottle has the shape of a medicine bottle with a straight body and a narrower neck, so it is easy to hold in the hand and a label can be applied to it. The black dropper cap has a tamper-evident ring that separates from the closure on first opening. The customer can see at a glance that the product has not been opened, which is especially useful when selling finished cosmetics.

How the set works

  • Protection from light – brown glass reduces the penetration of daylight, which slows down the oxidation of oils and the degradation of sensitive active ingredients. For blends with essential oils, vitamins, or plant extracts, dark glass is more suitable than clear.
  • Precise dosing – the dropper measures out one or several drops without spilling, which is practical for serums and concentrates where only a small amount is applied to the skin.
  • Hygienic application – the drop is applied directly to the skin or to the palm, and the contents do not touch fingers. For leave-on products with lighter preservation, this reduces the risk of introducing contaminants.
  • Tamper-evident ring – it breaks on first opening and serves as proof of integrity for the end customer.
  • Glass resistant to the contents – the glass tube of the dropper and the glass body of the bottle come into contact with the preparation. The set is therefore also suitable for oil-based and alcohol-based contents, which could damage a plastic container over time.

The length of the dropper is matched to the height of the bottle, so the tube reaches almost to the bottom and the contents can be used up without tilting.

Suitable for products such as

The set is designed for cosmetic products and is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. In practice it is used for:

  • facial and hair serums on both oil and water base,
  • essential oil blends diluted in a carrier oil, for example for facial massage or cuticle care,
  • beard and moustache oils,
  • concentrates of active ingredients that are added to creams drop by drop,
  • tinctures and alcohol extracts for cosmetic use,
  • samples and test packaging where a small volume is sufficient.

For water-based serums, the dropper limits the contact of the contents with air and fingers. However, preservation of the water-based formulation is still necessary — the packaging does not replace it.

Nominal and total volume

The bottle has a nominal volume, meaning the volume it is designed for under normal filling conditions, and a higher total brim capacity, which corresponds to the physical space up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper tube, which pushes some of the contents upward when screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Both values can be found in the product specifications.

Always fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. When filling to the neck, the dropper will push the contents out when screwed in, contaminate the thread, and the closure may not seal properly.

What is good to know when filling and using

Preparation before first filling. We recommend washing both the bottle and the dropper before use, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing to dry completely. Residual water in an oil-based product can cause cloudiness or promote microbial growth.

Seal of the set. The dropper screws onto the thread of the bottle. When using a specific formulation for the first time, we recommend leaving the filled bottle on its side for a few days and checking that the contents do not leak. This applies especially to thin oils and alcohol-based solutions.

Essential oils and the silicone bulb. The dropper tube is made of glass, the bulb of silicone. During normal use, the contents do not come into contact with the bulb. However, if you store the bottle in a tilted position or turn it upside down for extended periods, the concentrated blend may enter the bulb. Therefore, after use, allow the dropper to drip freely and store the bottle upright.

Reuse. The glass can be washed and used again. After first opening, the dropper loses its function as proof of integrity, but the dosing continues to work. When changing the contents, rinse the dropper thoroughly so that residues of the previous formulation do not get into the new one.

Glass and temperature. Do not fill the bottle with hot contents and do not expose it to sudden temperature changes. Oil serums are filled after cooling, ideally at room temperature.

Labelling. The straight body of the bottle is suitable for applying a label. For oil-based products, use a label with a strong adhesive that will not come off if accidentally contaminated with oil.

Recycling. The bottle is glass and after cleaning belongs in the glass recycling bin. The dropper is a composite product made of plastic, silicone, and glass, and should therefore be sorted separately from the bottle.

The set is not approved for contact with food. Do not use it for food oils, tinctures intended for internal use, or any other food products.

Closures with the same neck type as listed in the specifications, as well as other ready-made bottle + closure combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend verifying the seal, dosing, and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the 15 ml brown glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, brown glass reduces the penetration of visible light and some ultraviolet radiation into the contents. Oils, essential oils, and sensitive active ingredients therefore oxidise more slowly than in a clear bottle. This is not complete protection — the bottle should also be stored out of direct sunlight. For everyday use on a dressing table, however, brown glass provides better conditions for the contents than a clear container.
How much contents fits into the 15 ml dropper bottle?
The bottle is designed to be filled to the nominal volume of 15 ml. The physical brim capacity is larger, but this difference is a reserve for the dropper tube and the expansion of the contents, not additional filling space. If filled to the neck, some contents will enter the thread after screwing in and the closure will not seal properly.
Is the glass dropper bottle suitable for essential oils?
Yes, the set is suitable for essential oil blends in a carrier oil as well as more concentrated blends. The glass of the bottle and the glass tube of the dropper come into contact with the contents and will not be damaged by essential oils. The silicone bulb of the dropper does not touch the contents during correct use, so store the bottle upright and allow the dropper to drip back into the bottle after use.
Can the dropper bottle be washed and reused?
Yes, both the glass bottle and the dropper can be washed, disinfected with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, and refilled after drying. However, on first opening the tamper-evident ring separates, so the dropper no longer serves as proof of integrity. For personal use this is not an issue; when selling finished cosmetics it is advisable to use a new dropper.
Is the 15 ml dropper bottle set suitable for water-based serums?
Yes, glass is suitable for both water-based and oil-based formulations, and the dropper limits contact between the contents and fingers and air. However, a water-based serum must be properly preserved, as the packaging does not address microbial contamination. For water-based products, we also recommend verifying the seal of the set, as thin solutions penetrate threads more easily than thick oils.
What does the tamper-evident ring on the dropper mean?
The tamper-evident ring is a narrow plastic band on the bottom edge of the dropper closure that breaks or separates on first opening. The end customer can thus see that the bottle has not been opened since filling. When selling finished cosmetics, it is a practical trust element; for personal use the ring is only meaningful at first opening.
