Product description

Plastic bottle, clear, black ribbed cap, 100 ml is a complete set of a PET bottle and a screw-on cap with 24/410 thread, ready to fill right away without searching for a matching closure. The clear wall shows both the colour and the remaining contents, making the bottle suitable for samples, travel-size products and everyday bathroom items. The ribbed cap provides a good grip even with wet fingers, and thanks to the sealing insert it keeps liquid contents from leaking when the bottle is tipped or in transit.

The set is intended for liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic products with a volume of around 100 ml. Both the bottle and cap are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics; declarations of conformity are listed with the product.

What the set offers

  • Bottle and cap that belong together – both parts share the same thread, the closure seats on the neck without cross-threading and there is no need to try individual pieces.
  • Transparency – the colour, clarity and any turbidity of the product are visible, which is helpful for coloured tonics, oils and especially samples where the customer also assesses the appearance.
  • Lightweight and unbreakable material – PET weighs a fraction of glass and can withstand a drop on tiles, making it suitable for the bathroom, a cosmetics bag and posting samples by mail.
  • Foam polyethylene sealing insert – the flexible insert in the cap presses against the rim of the neck and seals even thin aqueous solutions that would seep through the thread alone.
  • Ribbed surface of the cap – the textured circumference makes it easier to open and tighten, even when the cap is greasy from oil or wet from water.

Nominal and total volume

With this bottle you will encounter two volume figures. The nominal volume is the quantity the packaging is designed for during normal filling, and it is this figure that gives the bottle its 100 ml designation. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck, which is always slightly larger. The difference provides a margin for the cap with its insert to seat properly and for minor expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Both values are listed in the product parameters.

Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. When filled right up to the neck, part of the contents is forced onto the thread when the cap is tightened, gumming it up and weakening the seal.

Suitable for products such as

  • tonics, facial and hair waters, micellar waters applied on a cotton pad or into the palm,
  • make-up removal, massage and body oils with a low proportion of essential oils,
  • travel-size shampoo, conditioner, shower gel or liquid soap for topping up from a larger container,
  • samples and trial batches for customers where the appearance of the product is assessed,
  • stock solutions and semi-finished materials in the workshop, for example glycerine extracts or solutions of water-soluble active substances.

Dropper caps, spray heads and pumps for dispensing are available as separate closures with the same neck type; you can find them along with ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. When assembling your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.

What is good to know before filling

Preparing the packaging. Before first use, rinse both the bottle and cap, disinfect with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and leave to air-dry upside down. Hot phases should not be poured into the bottle: PET deforms at higher temperatures, so emulsions, gels and liquid soap solutions should only be filled after cooling to room temperature.

Light. Clear PET transmits light and does not protect the contents from it. Products containing light-sensitive ingredients are better stored in the dark or packed in an amber or blue container.

Undiluted essential oils, perfume compositions and products with a high proportion of alcohol or solvents may over time soften PET, cause hazing or release odour from the material. For such formulations a test on a single bottle for several weeks before a larger batch is recommended.

Reuse. The bottle can be used again after thorough washing and drying. The sealing insert in the cap may absorb the scent or colour of the previous contents; if it is discoloured, compressed or smells, replace the cap. Do not put the bottle in a dishwasher or in hot water.

Labelling. Standard self-adhesive labels adhere well to PET even after contact with water.

Recycling. The PET bottle and polypropylene cap belong in sorted plastic waste collection; before disposal the cap is unscrewed and both parts are rinsed.

Frequently asked questions

Does the clear 100 ml plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear PET transmits light and does not protect the contents from it. Products without light-sensitive ingredients, such as liquid soaps, shampoos or everyday tonics, are not affected. Oils prone to oxidation, vitamin C or products with a higher proportion of essential oils are better stored in the dark, or an amber or blue bottle should be chosen.
How much fits in the 100 ml plastic bottle — exactly 100 ml or more?
The bottle is designed for a nominal volume of 100 ml, although it physically holds slightly more up to the brim. The difference is a margin for the cap with its sealing insert and for the expansion of the contents with temperature change. Fill to the nominal volume; if filled right up to the neck, the contents reach the thread and the seal is compromised.
Is the PET bottle suitable for products containing essential oils or alcohol?
For products with a low proportion of essential oils and a normal alcohol content, yes; for undiluted essential oils and perfume compositions, no. A high concentration of essential oil fractions or solvents may over time soften PET, cause hazing or release odour from the material. For borderline formulations a test on a single bottle over several weeks is recommended.
Does the black ribbed 24/410 cap seal in transit and when inverted?
Yes, the cap has an inner foam polyethylene sealing insert that seats on the neck and seals even thin aqueous solutions. The condition is a clean thread free of residue and hand-tightening without force. When sending by post, it is additionally recommended to place the bottle in a bag so that any leakage does not damage the shipment.
Can I pour a hot emulsion or soap solution into a PET bottle?
No, contents should only be filled once cooled to room temperature. A hot phase can deform the PET bottle, cause the walls to buckle or narrow the neck so that the cap no longer seals. Allow emulsions, gels and liquid soap solutions to cool first in the vessel in which they were prepared, and only then transfer them to the bottle.
