Product description

A brown plastic bottle of 100 ml with a black ribbed cap is a ready-to-use set for cosmetic preparations that need to be protected from light. The bottle is made of PET, is lightweight, will not break like glass, and the brown tint reduces light exposure to the contents. This is appreciated with preparations containing vegetable oils, essential oils, or sensitive active ingredients that lose quality more quickly when exposed to light.

The set is intended for body and massage oils, hair oils, facial tonics, micellar waters, liquid soaps for refilling, cleansing gels, and travel-size shampoos. The 100 ml volume suits small home production batches, customer samples, and products that are used up within a few weeks.

Why choose this set

  • Light protection – the brown tint of the bottle reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, thereby slowing the oxidation of oils and the fading of coloured components.
  • Light and durable – the PET bottle is suitable for travel and postal shipping and weighs a fraction of what glass does.
  • Secure grip – the ribbed surface of the cap grips well even with wet or greasy hands, which is practical in the bathroom or when working with oils.
  • Sealing insert – the cap has a foam insert inside that seats on the neck and reduces the risk of leaking during transport.
  • Shelf appearance – the brown bottle with a black cap looks cohesive and suits natural cosmetics as well as minimalist labels.

Nominal and total volume

Two volumes are stated for each container and it is useful to understand the difference. The nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is somewhat larger. The difference provides a margin for the closure and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle will overflow when closing and the cap's sealing insert may not seat properly.

How the set works in practice

The cap is unscrewed and the contents pour or drip from the bottle depending on the viscosity of the preparation. Thin liquids such as tonics and oils flow easily; thicker gels and emulsions require more time and slight compression of the bottle. If you want more precise dispensing, choose a different type of closure with the same 24/410 neck for this bottle. Closures with this neck and ready-made bottle + closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. When using your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.

Before first filling, rinse both the bottle and cap, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water in the container shortens the stability of the preparation and causes cloudiness in anhydrous oil-based blends.

What is good to know

Material and contents. PET is well suited to aqueous solutions, vegetable oils, emulsions, and surfactant-based preparations. With blends containing a high proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions, or alcohol, we recommend testing one bottle for several weeks before filling a larger batch. Some ingredients may soften the plastic or change its appearance over time. The cap is made of polypropylene with a foam sealing insert, and for it too it is advisable to test more aggressive ingredients.

Heat. PET is not intended for hot filling or sterilisation by boiling. Allow preparations to cool to room temperature before filling, and do not wash the bottle in very hot water, otherwise it may deform.

Reuse. Both the bottle and cap can be used again after thorough washing and disinfection. Before refilling, check that the foam insert in the cap is not damaged or saturated with the previous contents. An insert saturated with oil or fragrance will transfer the smell to the new preparation.

Labelling. The cylindrical shape of the bottle is easy to label. Standard self-adhesive labels adhere well to the smooth PET surface; for oils, we recommend grease-resistant labels.

Suitability. Both the bottle and cap are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products; a declaration of conformity is available with the product. The set is not approved for contact with food.

Recycling. The bottle is made of PET and the cap of polypropylene. Both materials are recyclable; simply separate them before disposing.

Do not use this set for food, homemade syrups, or herbal extracts. It is intended exclusively for cosmetic and technical preparations.

Frequently asked questions

Does a brown plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the brown colouring of the PET bottle limits light exposure to the contents, though it is not a complete barrier. For common oils, tonics, and serums with sensitive ingredients, the protection is sufficient, especially if the bottle is not stored in direct sunlight. For very sensitive active ingredients, it is advisable to combine a dark container with storage in darkness.
Is the 100 ml plastic bottle with a ribbed cap suitable for essential oils?
For diluted preparations with essential oil content in single-digit percentages, yes. Undiluted essential oils or blends with a high proportion of essential oils can degrade PET over time, so for these we recommend glass. If you are unsure, fill one bottle and observe whether the plastic becomes cloudy or softens.
Why should the 100 ml bottle not be filled to the brim?
Because the nominal volume is designed with a margin below the neck. This margin provides space for the cap and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. An overfilled bottle overflows when closing, the sealing insert does not seat properly, and the contents leak during transport.
Can the brown PET bottle be washed and reused?
Yes, after thorough washing with lukewarm water and a mild detergent and disinfecting with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. Do not use boiling water or a dishwasher; PET deforms at high temperatures. With the cap, check the condition of the foam insert — a saturated insert will transfer fragrance to the new preparation.
Does the ribbed 24/410 cap seal even with thin oils?
Yes, when properly tightened and filled to the nominal volume, the foam insert in the cap seats on the neck and prevents leaking. For postal shipping, we recommend tightening the cap more firmly and placing the bottle in a bag. When using your own combination of bottle with other closures, always verify the seal.
Is this set suitable for shampoo or liquid soap?
Yes, for smaller travel sizes or samples it is suitable. Thicker preparations are harder to dispense from a bottle with a plain cap and need to be squeezed out by compressing the sides. For more convenient dispensing of thick products, choose a pump closure with a 24/410 neck for the same bottle.
