Product description
This 300 ml amber plastic bottle with a black ribbed cap and a 24/410 neck finish is packaging for liquid and semi-liquid products that are dispensed by pouring and should not be kept in the light. The amber colour limits the amount of light reaching the contents, so the bottle is suitable for massage and body oils, bath oils, shampoos, shower gels and hydrolates in larger sizes. PET is lightweight and does not break when dropped, which you will appreciate in the shower as well as when shipping parcels.
The PP cap has ribs around its circumference, so it can be tightened even with oily fingers. Inside, it has a liner made of foamed polyethylene (EPE) that sits on the neck and seals the contents during storage and transport.
What it is suitable for
- Body and massage oils – the larger volume matches the amount used during a massage, and the dark bottle limits the amount of light reaching oils that are sensitive to it.
- Shampoos, shower gels and liquid soaps – the contents are dispensed by unscrewing the cap. If you need to dispense with one hand, the bottle has a standard 24/410 neck finish and can be fitted with a pump or another closure from our range.
- Hydrolates and toners in bulk packs – the 300 ml bottle can be used to refill smaller bottles with a fine mist sprayer that you carry in a bag or keep on a shelf.
- Work-in-progress mixtures and intermediates – a blended oil phase, macerates or surfactant solutions waiting for further processing.
- Technical liquids – the bottle and the cap are of cosmetic as well as technical grade, so they can also be used for cleaning or working solutions in a workshop, as long as no aggressive chemicals are involved.
Volume and filling
The nominal volume of 300 ml stated on the bottle is the amount the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The brimful volume, that is, the physical volume up to the neck, is slightly larger. The difference provides room for the cap liner or the pump dip tube and space for the contents to expand with changes in temperature. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you overfill it, the contents are pushed out along the thread when the cap is screwed on, and the cap then does not seal as it should.
Good to know
The cap has a declaration of suitability for contact with cosmetic products. There is no such declaration in the documentation for the bottle, so the set as a whole is not declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. Before filling it with a specific formulation, we recommend checking how the bottle behaves with your contents, especially for products with a higher proportion of fragrance or alcohol. The set is not intended for contact with food.
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap in warm water with washing-up liquid, rinse them, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely, neck down.
PET does not tolerate heat well. Hot contents soften the wall and the bottle may become deformed, so let emulsions, gels and thickened shampoos cool to room temperature before filling. The bottle should also not be exposed to aggressive chemicals and solvents.
The bottle is filled cold and is not suitable for aggressive chemicals or solvents. For diluted mixtures, such as a massage oil with fragrance at up to a few percent, check after a few weeks that the bottle wall is not softening and that the cap still seals.
The bottle and the cap can be reused. After emptying, simply wash and disinfect them in the same way as before the first filling. You can find other closures with a 24/410 neck finish and ready-made bottle + closure combinations in the Handymade range; if you choose your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
The bottle is made of PET and the cap of PP; both materials are commonly recycled. Before disposal, rinse the bottle and unscrew the cap so that the plastics can be sorted separately.
