Product description

Clear glass bottle, black and silver dropper, 30 ml

A ready-made set for dispensing liquid cosmetic preparations drop by drop: a 30 ml glass bottle with a matching dropper in a black and silver finish. The clear glass lets you see the contents, so you can keep track of the colour, clarity and the amount left in the bottle. With the dropper, you take exactly as much as you need, without spilling and without your fingers touching the contents.

The 30 ml volume corresponds to a common pack size for facial serum, a blend of vegetable oils for the face, nail or hair oil, or diluted essential oils for topical use. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products and is intended specifically for them.

Suitable uses

  • Facial and oil serums – liquid preparations applied drop by drop directly to the skin or into the palm.
  • Blends of vegetable oils – for the face, cuticles, beard or hair ends.
  • Tinctures and alcohol extracts for cosmetic use – the dropper makes precise dispensing into toner or facial lotion easier.
  • Diluted essential oils and fragrance blends – an alternative to a roll-on bottle if you prefer to dose drop by drop.
  • Samples and test batches – the small volume is suitable for stability tests as well as for gift or trial packs.

Filling and volume

The nominal volume of 30 ml is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful volume, stated in the parameters, is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them provides a reserve for the body of the dropper, which takes up part of the space once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, the contents are pushed out through the thread when the dropper is fitted and the bottle leaks.

Before filling for the first time, wash the bottle and the glass tube of the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. Residual water in an oil-based or anhydrous preparation compromises its microbial stability.

Good to know

Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. For preparations sensitive to oxidation, especially oils with a higher proportion of unsaturated fatty acids, serums with vitamin C or retinoids, and blends with essential oils, we recommend storing them in this packaging away from direct sunlight, or decanting them in smaller quantities for faster use. If the packaging itself is to block light, amber or blue glass is more suitable.

The dropper combines a glass tube, aluminium sheath, plastic thread and silicone bulb. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking the behaviour of the bulb and the seal on a sample before filling a whole batch this way. After washing and disinfection, the empty bottle can be refilled repeatedly. After longer use, check that the bulb still draws well and that the thread seals properly.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Do not pour a hot oil phase into a cold bottle, and do not wash the bottle with hot water right after taking it out of the refrigerator.

The set is not approved for contact with food. For homemade oils, syrups or herbal extracts intended for consumption, choose packaging with the appropriate certificate.

You can find closures with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

The empty bottle goes in glass recycling. The dropper combines several materials, so dispose of it separately according to its predominant material.

Frequently asked questions

Does a clear glass bottle with a dropper protect the contents from light?
No, clear glass lets light through and does not protect the contents from it. For oils prone to yellowing and serums with vitamin C or retinoids, we recommend storing them in the dark, or choosing an amber or blue bottle. Clear glass makes sense where you want to see the colour and amount of the contents, or for more stable preparations.
How much does a 30 ml glass bottle with a dropper actually hold?
The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume, that is 30 ml. The physical brimful volume is somewhat higher, but this difference is a reserve for the body of the dropper and the expansion of the contents. If you pour in more, the dropper pushes the contents out when it is screwed in and the bottle starts to leak through the thread.
Is a glass bottle with a dropper suitable for essential oils and tinctures?
Yes, a glass bottle with a dropper is a common choice for diluted essential oils and alcohol-based cosmetic preparations. For undiluted essential oils or blends with a high proportion of solvents, however, we recommend first checking on a sample how the silicone bulb and the seal behave, because the dropper combines several materials.
How do you clean the glass bottle and dropper before reuse?
Wash the bottle in warm water with washing-up liquid, rinse it, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely with the neck facing down. Rinse the glass tube of the dropper by drawing in clean water and then alcohol, and do not leave the bulb soaking for long. Before refilling, check that the bulb still draws and that the thread seals properly.
Can a closure other than the dropper be used with this glass bottle?
Yes, the bottle has a standard 18/410 neck finish, so other closures with this neck type from the Handymade range can also be used. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation, because different closures behave differently with water-based, alcohol-based and oil-based contents.
