Product description

A brown plastic bottle with a capacity of 200 ml and a disc top cap is a complete set for cosmetic products dispensed in small amounts directly into the palm: shampoos, shower gels, body lotions, conditioners or massage oils. Brown PET reduces light exposure to the contents, which is particularly valued in formulations containing vegetable oils, extracts and essential oils.

The cap in a rose-gold matte finish with a white centre opens by pressing one side of the disc. The bottle can be operated with one hand, and once closed the opening remains covered, so the contents do not spill during normal use.

Key features of the set

Light protection – the brown colouring limits light penetration, which accelerates oxidation of oils and changes in the scent or colour of the finished product.
Flexible bottle wall – the bottle can be gently squeezed to push the contents through the cap opening in the amount you need.
Disc top dispensing – the narrow opening releases only a small amount at a time, making it easy to work with liquid to medium-viscosity products.

Suitable products

The disc top works best with contents that flow on their own or with a gentle squeeze of the bottle. Suitable products include shampoos, shower gels, liquid soaps, conditioners, body lotions, light emulsions, massage and body oils, or facial cleansing gels.

Thick creams, butters and balms are difficult to dispense through the narrow opening and residue tends to remain at the bottom that cannot be squeezed out. For these, a jar or pot is more practical. Very thin water-based products, such as tonics or hydrolates, can be dispensed from this set, but are more conveniently applied with a spray.

With a new formulation, first fill a single bottle and test how the contents flow through the cap opening at room temperature and in a cooler bathroom. The viscosity of emulsions and gels changes with temperature, and dispensing may be slow with a thicker product.

Nominal and total volume

Two volumes are stated for the bottle. The nominal volume is the amount the container is designed to hold under normal filling conditions. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck. The difference between them provides headspace for the cap and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim — otherwise the contents will be pushed out when closing and first opening.

Useful information

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is not intended for food use.

Before first use, wash both the bottle and cap, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water inside the container unnecessarily burdens the preservative system of the product.

Keep the bottle away from heat. Hot contents can deform it, so allow the product to cool to approximately room temperature before filling. For the same reason, the container should not be sterilised by boiling or in an oven.

The bottle and cap are made from different materials. When disposing of the container, empty it and separate the cap from the bottle.

Yes, a plastic bottle with a disc top cap is well suited to liquid and medium-viscosity rinse-off products such as shampoos and shower gels. The bottle can be squeezed and the cap opening releases an appropriate amount directly into the palm. With very thick gels, we recommend testing in advance whether the contents flow through the opening quickly enough.

Can a warm product be filled into a PET plastic bottle?

No, hot contents should not be filled into a PET plastic bottle, as the material deforms under heat. Allow emulsions and gels to cool to approximately room temperature before filling. If the formulation requires hot filling, a glass container is more appropriate.

How much product fits in a 200 ml plastic bottle?

The plastic bottle is designed to hold 200 ml of product, corresponding to its nominal volume. Physically it holds slightly more, but that space serves as headspace for the cap and content expansion. When filling by weight, take the product density into account, as 200 ml of oil weighs less than 200 ml of shampoo.

Can the plastic bottle with disc top cap be reused?

Yes, both the plastic bottle and the disc top cap can be reused for your own products after thorough cleaning. Wash the container with warm — not hot — water and detergent, rinse, disinfect with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry. Pay particular attention to the opening and the inside of the cap, where product residue lingers the longest.

Is a brown plastic bottle suitable for oils and products containing essential oils?

Yes, a brown plastic bottle is suitable for body and massage oils with a standard fragrance concentration, and its colour additionally reduces the effect of light. Concentrated essential oil blends and products with a high proportion of solvents may gradually degrade the plastic. We therefore recommend a filled-container test in which you monitor the shape of the bottle, the seal of the cap and the scent of the contents over several weeks, or opt for glass.
