Product description
A plastic bottle, transparent and rounded, with a white trigger sprayer is a ready-made set for a larger amount of thin liquid content that is applied by spraying. Its nominal volume of 1000 ml and the generous dose with every squeeze of the trigger make it ideal for disinfectant and cleaning solutions, alcohol sprays for work surfaces and moulds, spraying alcohol during soap making, or for hydrolats and toners in a salon-sized package. The transparent bottle shows how much content remains, and the sprayer covers a larger area considerably faster than the small mechanical sprayers on little bottles.
The set comes as a bottle and sprayer together with the same type of neck, so there is nothing to add and no need to check whether the closure fits. The sprayer is all-plastic, with no metal parts, which makes cleaning as well as sorting easier once you are done using it. The set is suitable for both cosmetic and technical use in a workshop, home, or facility.
How the set works
The trigger sprayer screws onto the bottle neck and the suction tube reaches down to the bottom. Squeezing the trigger draws the content up and sprays it. A single dose from a trigger sprayer is significantly larger than from a mechanical sprayer, which is why it is suited to surfaces and areas rather than fine application to the face. It works best with content of low viscosity – water-based and alcohol solutions, hydrolats, thin surfactant or cleaning-agent solutions. Thick, gel-like, and oily contents spray unevenly or clog the mechanism, and are not suitable for this type of closure.
The suction tube is longer than the height of the bottle. Before first use, shorten it with a diagonal cut so that it reaches just to the bottom and does not bend. The sprayer will then empty the bottle almost to the last dose and will not draw in air.
When transporting a filled set, tighten the sprayer firmly and keep the bottle upright. Trigger sprayers are not built for transporting content upside down. For a longer trip or a shipment, it is safer to transport the bottle with a solid cap and fit the sprayer only on arrival.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is intended for under normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume all the way up to the neck and is somewhat larger. The difference forms a reserve for the sprayer and its tube, which take up part of the space once fitted, and for the expansion of the content when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim – otherwise the content overflows the neck once the sprayer is screwed on.
Suitable for contents such as
- Disinfecting and cleaning solutions – alcohol, izopropylalkohol or diluted cleaning agents for work surfaces, tools and moulds; a larger quantity covers the area quickly.
- Alcohol spray for soap making – spraying alcohol onto the surface of freshly poured cold-process soap helps reduce the formation of white residue; 1000 ml lasts a long time.
- Hydrolates and tonics in larger sizes – for hair and body use in a salon or for home production where larger quantities are consumed.
- Plant and household solutions – aqueous solutions for misting plants, removing stains or refreshing fabrics.
What is good to know when filling and using
- Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle and the sprayer, rinse with clean water, disinfect with alcohol or isopropyl alcohol, and let them dry completely. Moisture in the bottle would dilute the content and, with cosmetic preparations, increase the risk of microbial contamination.
- Reuse – both the bottle and the sprayer can be used repeatedly. The sprayer is cleaned by pumping warm water through it and then alcohol. Rinse out any residues of surfactants or plant extracts thoroughly, otherwise they will clog the nozzle.
- Labelling – the bottle is rounded, so a narrower label or a label made of a more flexible material that follows the curve without wrinkles adheres to it better.
- The transparent wall does not protect against light – keep light-sensitive contents, for example hydrolats with added plant extracts or coloured solutions, out of direct sunlight.
The plastic may not withstand concentrated essential oils, aggressive solvents, and strongly acidic or alkaline solutions – these can cloud or soften the bottle wall or damage the sprayer seal. With every new type of content, test the packaging's behaviour on a small amount and, after a few days, check the tightness and the condition of the plastic.
Cosmetics, food, and recycling
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics; the declaration of conformity is provided with the product. The plastic bottle separately has certification for direct contact with food, but the sprayer does not. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetics, cleaning, and technical solutions, not for filling with food. After being emptied and rinsed, both the bottle and the all-plastic sprayer belong in sorted plastic waste.
