Product description

A plastic bottle with a capacity of 1000 ml combined with a black ribbed pump is a complete packaging solution for liquid and semi-liquid products dispensed repeatedly in measured doses. The transparent wall shows the contents and the remaining level; the ribbed surface of the dispenser makes pressing easy even with wet hands. The set is particularly suitable for shower gels, shampoos, liquid soaps, body lotions and massage oils in larger formats, whether for a salon, workshop or household where the product is consumed quickly.

The complete set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle alone holds a food-contact certificate; the pump does not, so the bottle + dispenser assembly is intended for cosmetic and technical use, not for food.

Suitable applications

  • Rinse-off products – shower gels, shampoos, liquid soaps and bath foams. A 1000 ml volume matches consumption in a bathroom or washroom in a professional setting; the pump dispenses without opening the cap.
  • Body lotions and lighter emulsions – liquid to medium-viscosity emulsions that the pump draws up reliably. With thicker emulsions, test dispensing in advance; a dense mass may not travel up the dip tube.
  • Massage and body oils – low-viscosity oils dispense cleanly without running down the bottle wall. The transparent bottle shows the colour of the oil and the remaining level.
  • Bulk refill packaging – the larger volume also works as a reservoir for topping up smaller bottles for retail or travel.

How to use the set

The bottle has a nominal volume of 1000 ml. This is the volume the packaging is designed for under normal filling conditions. The total brim-full capacity is greater, as more liquid fits up to the neck. The difference provides headspace for the dip tube and pump body, which occupy part of the space once screwed on, and for expansion of the contents with temperature change. Fill the container to its nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents will overflow when the dispenser is screwed on.

The pump screws onto the bottle neck with a 28/410 thread and is tightened by hand. Before first use, prime the dip tube with several strokes; the system then dispenses evenly. One stroke delivers approximately 1.8 ml, equivalent to a single-use dose of shower gel, shampoo or lotion.

If the dip tube rests on the bottom and bends after screwing on the pump, trim it with a sharp knife using an angled cut. The angled end will not suction against the bottom, and the pump will dispense until the bottle is empty.

Things worth knowing

Preparation before filling. Before first use, wash both the bottle and the pump, rinse with clean water, and disinfect with izopropylalkohol or etanol and leave to dry completely. Flush the pump by dispensing clean water through it and leave it to dry upright so no water remains in the tube.

Light and contents. The transparent bottle does not protect contents from light. Formulations with a high proportion of unsaturated oils or sensitive active ingredients should be kept out of direct sunlight, or a dark container should be chosen instead.

Plastic and aggressive components. The pump is made of polypropylene. For contents with a high proportion of essential oils, solvents or undiluted fragrance compounds, we recommend verifying in advance that the bottle and pump can withstand prolonged contact with the formulation. For standard emulsions, surfactant-based products and vegetable oils, this is a conventional solution.

Reuse. The set can be refilled after thorough washing and disinfection. When changing products, pump clean water through the dispenser until it runs clear, so that residues of the previous fill do not mix with the new one.

The pump draws contents through the dip tube and therefore requires a liquid to medium-viscosity product. Thick creams and butters will not pass through the pump or will cause it to lock with air. Before filling an entire batch, test dispensing with a small quantity.

Label. The curved bottle wall accepts self-adhesive labels well; label dimensions for calculating the label size are listed in the product parameters. Apply the label to a dry, degreased surface.

Recycling. Both the bottle and the pump are plastic and belong in the sorted plastics waste stream. Separate the pump from the bottle before sorting.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 1000 ml plastic bottle with pump suitable for food?
No, the complete set is not approved for food contact. The bottle alone holds a food-contact certificate; the pump does not. The bottle + dispenser assembly is therefore intended for cosmetic products such as shower gels, shampoos, lotions and oils, and for technical use.
How viscous a product can be dispensed through the pump on a 1000 ml bottle?
The pump dispenses liquid to medium-viscosity products reliably: shower gels, shampoos, liquid soaps, body lotions and oils. Thick creams and butters cannot be drawn through the dip tube. For emulsions at the upper viscosity limit, we recommend testing dispensing with a small quantity and, if necessary, adjusting the formulation to a lower viscosity.
Does the transparent plastic bottle protect contents from light?
No, the transparent bottle does not block light. It is suitable for products unaffected by light, or for packaging stored away from direct sunlight and consumed quickly. For light-sensitive formulations, such as those with a high proportion of unsaturated oils, a dark container is more appropriate.
Why should the bottle not be filled to the brim?
The bottle is filled to its nominal volume of 1000 ml, not to the neck. Once the pump is screwed on, its dip tube and body occupy part of the space, and the contents expand slightly with temperature changes. The headspace between the nominal and total volume prevents the product from overflowing when closing or in warm conditions.
Can the set be washed and reused after emptying?
Yes, both the bottle and pump can be reused. Wash the bottle, rinse it, disinfect with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry. Pump clean water through the dispenser until it runs clear, then dry it upright. When changing products, thorough flushing of the dip tube is important to prevent fills from mixing.
Do other closures with a 28/410 neck fit this bottle besides this pump?
Yes, all closures with the same neck type listed in the product parameters — for example a cap or a spray head — are compatible with the bottle. Ready-made bottle and closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. When putting together your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing performance and the behaviour of the assembly with your specific formulation.
