Product description
A white plastic bottle with a capacity of 300 ml and a black mini trigger sprayer is a ready-made set for sprays: face and body toners, hydrosols, refreshing hair sprays, after-sun sprays or room fragrances with a water or alcohol base. The PET bottle is lightweight and unbreakable. White plastic hides the contents and lets through less light than clear plastic, which helps recipes with hydrosols and more delicate ingredients that do not tolerate strong light.
The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Both the sprayer and the bottle have a 24/410 neck finish.
Bottle and sprayer
- Bottle – made of white PET, with a 24/410 neck finish. It sits well in the hand when spraying and also fits on a narrow shelf.
- Mini trigger sprayer – black, made of polypropylene (PP), with a smooth collar without ribbing. When pressed, it disperses the contents into a mist, and one dose is approximately 0.2 ml. Before first use, the pump is primed with liquid by pressing it several times, and only then does it spray evenly.
- Dip tube – supplied longer so that it can be adapted to the height of the bottle. When correctly shortened, it reaches the bottom and the sprayer draws out the contents almost to the last dose.
Before the first assembly, shorten the dip tube with a sharp knife at an angle so that it touches the bottom of the bottle once the sprayer is screwed on. The angled cut prevents the end of the tube from sitting flat against the bottom and drawing in air.
What it is suitable for
The sprayer works best with thin liquids: water, hydrosols, toners with a lower proportion of glycerine, alcohol sprays, solutions with extracts or water-soluble active ingredients. The nozzle disperses such contents into a mist and does not clog.
Thick serums, emulsions, gels and pure vegetable oils do not belong in the mini trigger sprayer. Oil is sprayed only in coarse droplets or not at all, and the nozzle becomes clogged over time. A pump or another type of closure is better suited to oil sprays.
Do not expose the packaging to aggressive chemicals. For sprays with a higher proportion of essential oils, pure alcohol or solvents, we recommend testing the behaviour of both the bottle and the sprayer on a small sample first.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume of 300 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for during normal filling. The physical volume up to the neck is larger. The difference is a reserve for the dip tube of the sprayer and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes, for example when a spray is left in a car or by a window. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it were filled up to the neck, part of the contents would be pushed out when the sprayer is screwed on.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the sprayer in warm water with washing-up liquid, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Rinse the sprayer by spraying clean water through it several times, then empty the pump by pressing it over the sink.
Fill the bottle with cooled contents. Toners and sprays prepared with heat should be left to cool to room temperature, as a hot liquid could deform the PET and impair the tightness of the neck. For the same reason, the bottle must not go into a dishwasher or boiling water.
Both the bottle and the sprayer can be used repeatedly. When changing the contents, wash and disinfect both parts in the same way as before the first filling. If residues of extracts or glycerine build up in the sprayer and it stops dispensing well, rinsing with warm water and several sprays will help.
Closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, and ready-made combinations of the bottle with another closure, can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
The certificate for direct food contact applies to the bottle alone. The sprayer does not have it, so the set as a whole is not intended for food and is used for cosmetics and similar water or alcohol sprays.
The bottle is made of PET and the sprayer of PP. Before disposal, unscrew both parts and sort them as plastic.
