FAQ – Most frequent questions

Is this bottle suitable for repeated use?

The bottle can be used repeatedly, provided that you follow basic hygiene rules with each subsequent filling. Before refilling, the packaging must be thoroughly cleaned, rinsed and disinfected with a suitable disinfectant, for example using isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For disinfection we recommend the products IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured, plant-based. Only afterwards is it appropriate to fill the bottle again with the prepared formulation.

How should the dispenser be cleaned correctly so that it remains functional even with long-term use?

For cleaning, it is advisable to unscrew the dispenser from the bottle and pump clean water or a suitable cleaning solution several times through the pump in order to remove product residues from the tube and the mechanism. Afterwards, a mild disinfectant solution can be used and pumped through again, while it is important not to exceed the recommended concentrations so that the plastic parts are not damaged. Before the next use, leave all components to dry thoroughly at room temperature, away from a direct source of heat.

For which type of products is this packaging most suitable from the point of view of consistency?

The bottle with pump dispenser is most suitable for liquid to semi-liquid formulations that can be conveniently dispensed using the dispenser. These are mainly body and facial milks, emulsions, lighter creams, gels, soaps in liquid form and various hygiene or treatment preparations. For very thick creams or paste-like mixtures, dosing may be limited, so it is advisable to carry out a pumping test before the final filling and, if necessary, adjust the viscosity of the product.

How can this packaging be safely disposed of and recycled if I no longer wish to use it?

If you decide not to reuse the bottle, we recommend first emptying it and removing product residues. It is then advisable to dismantle the packaging into separate components (bottle body, dispenser, and possibly cap) and follow the information on the material given in the parameter table at the product on the Handymade website. According to the type of plastic or combination of materials, place the individual parts in the appropriate separate collection, or hand them over at a collection yard. In this way you enable proper recycling and minimise the amount of waste.
