Product description

A white plastic bottle with a capacity of 200 ml and a black mini trigger sprayer is a ready-made packaging solution for thin cosmetic products applied as a fine mist: facial toners, hydrosols, hair and body sprays or refreshing mists. The bottle is made of PET, is lightweight and does not break when dropped, which you will appreciate both when producing for sale and when packing a travel bag. The opaque white wall reduces the amount of light reaching the contents and hides any cloudiness or sediment.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle on its own also has a certificate for direct food contact, but as a complete set with the sprayer, the packaging is intended for cosmetics.

Suitable uses

The mini trigger sprayer is designed for liquid contents with a consistency close to water. This bottle is therefore best suited to:

  • Facial toners and hydrosols – the fine mist spreads evenly over the skin without a cotton pad, which saves product.
  • Hair sprays – light water-based conditioning or setting sprays, sea salt sprays, solutions for refreshing curls.
  • Body and refreshing mists – water-alcohol mists with a solubilised fragrance.
  • Workshop cleaning sprays – water-based or diluted alcohol solutions for treating tools and the work surface.

Thick serums, oils, emulsions and gels cannot be dispensed through this closure. The sprayer either fails to draw them up, or the nozzle releases a stream without dispersion and the mechanism quickly clogs.

Oil serums, creams and gels do not belong in a bottle with a mini trigger sprayer. For such contents, we recommend a bottle with the same 24/410 neck fitted with a pump or another suitable closure.

How the sprayer dispenses

One press releases approximately 0.2 ml of the contents. The dip tube reaches deep into the bottle, so almost all of the contents can be used up. The black head with a smooth collar contrasts with the white bottle and is easy to wipe clean when drops remain on it.

The sprayer is empty when first used. Press it several times to prime it until the tube fills and the mist becomes even. The same applies after each wash.

Fill the bottle to the nominal volume of 200 ml, not up to the neck. Space must remain above the liquid level for the sprayer tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes, otherwise the contents will be pushed out through the thread when the closure is screwed on.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for during normal filling. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is always slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the closure with its tube and for the movement of the contents during temperature fluctuations. When calculating the formulation and the declared volume of the product, therefore, work with the nominal 200 ml.

Good to know

  • Preparation before first filling – rinse the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Pump the sprayer several times with clean water or alcohol and also leave it to dry.
  • Temperature of the contents – PET is not intended for hot filling. Pour toners, hydrosols and sprays in once they have cooled to room temperature.
  • Alcohol and essential oils – diluted alcohol solutions and water-alcohol mists are part of the normal use of this bottle. Undiluted essential oils and higher concentrations of fragrance compositions may cause the plastic to turn cloudy over time, so check compatibility with your specific formulation on a small quantity.
  • Reuse – after washing and disinfection, both the bottle and the sprayer can be used again. Check that the sprayer still produces an even mist and does not leak around the collar.
  • Other closures – the bottle has a 24/410 neck. You will find closures with the same neck type and ready-made bottle plus closure combinations in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
  • Recycling – the bottle is made of PET and the sprayer of PP. Separate the two parts before disposal; both belong in plastic waste.

Frequently asked questions

Is a white plastic bottle with a mini trigger sprayer suitable for hydrosols and toners?
Yes, hydrosols and facial toners are the most typical use for this bottle. The sprayer turns a thin water-based product into a fine mist and dispenses approximately 0.2 ml per press. Water-based products without a preservative have a short shelf life regardless of the packaging, so make sure both hydrosols and toners are properly preserved.
Can I pour oil or a thick serum into a bottle with a sprayer?
No, the mini trigger sprayer is not designed for oils, emulsions or gels. A thick product is either not drawn up or comes out as an undispersed stream, and the nozzle becomes clogged. For oil serums and creamy textures, a bottle with the same 24/410 neck fitted with a pump or another suitable closure is more appropriate.
Does the white PET bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the opaque white wall reduces the amount of light reaching the contents better than clear plastic. Hydrosols, toners with plant extracts and sprays with a fragrance are therefore not exposed to direct light on the shelf. For sensitive ingredients, store the bottle away from direct sunlight in any case.
Can I use the bottle with the sprayer for food or drinks?
The bottle and sprayer set is not approved for food contact. The white PET bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact, but the mini trigger sprayer does not, so the whole packaging is intended for cosmetic products. If you need packaging for homemade syrups or oils, choose a closure for the bottle that also has a food-contact certificate.
How do I prepare the bottle and sprayer before first filling, and can they be reused?
Before first filling, rinse the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry, and pump the sprayer with clean water or alcohol. Both parts can be reused. After each wash, press the sprayer several times to prime it so that the tube fills, and check that the mist comes out evenly.
