Introduction

Recycled plastic bottle with a black and silver matte spray pump, 250 ml is a ready-to-use set for water-based and alcohol-based preparations applied by spraying. It combines a transparent recycled PET bottle with a 24/410 neck and a mechanical spray pump in black with a matte silver collar. Simply fill it and it is ready to use. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

Suitable for facial and body tonics, hydrolate sprays, hair waters, textile and room sprays, and alcohol-based disinfectant solutions. The customer can see the contents and their colour, which works well with clear preparations. The dark spray pump pairs well with both black and white labels.

Key features

  • Recycled PET – the bottle made from recycled plastic is lightweight, shatter-resistant, and suitable for repeated filling.
  • Transparent wall – the contents and their level are visible, so the customer knows how much preparation remains.
  • Mechanical spray pump – produces a fine mist without propellants and dispenses approximately the same amount with each press.
  • Standard 24/410 neck – the bottle and spray pump share the same neck type, so the set seals without any additional adjustment.
  • Matte silver collar – the metal element distinguishes the closure from all-plastic spray pumps.

What the set is suitable for

The spray pump is designed for thin, water-based or alcohol-based liquids. Hydrolates work well, as do tonics with glycerin or hyaluronic acid at low concentration, refreshing mists for the face and body, hair sprays with a light texture, perfumed textile waters, room sprays, ethanol or isopropyl alcohol disinfectant solutions, and cleaning sprays for delicate surfaces.

The thicker the liquid, the worse it sprays. Preparations thickened with gums or containing a higher proportion of oil will either not be drawn up by the pump or will be dispensed in a stream rather than a mist. Oil serums and body oils therefore belong in a bottle with a pump or dropper, not in this set.

One pump of the spray dispenses approximately 0.12 ml. Bear this in mind when stating the recommended number of sprays in the instructions for use of a facial or hair spray.

Nominal and total volume

A distinction is made between the nominal volume and the total brim-full volume of the bottle. The nominal volume is the quantity for which the bottle is designed under normal filling, and this figure is stated on the label. The total volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is higher. The difference provides a margin for the spray tube, the air above the fill level, and expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, the contents would be pushed out through the neck when the spray pump is screwed on.

What to know when filling

Before first filling, we recommend washing and disinfecting both the bottle and the spray pump with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing them to dry completely. Residual water would dilute the preparation and could compromise its microbiological stability, particularly in water-based formulations with a lower preservative concentration.

The transparent material does not protect the contents from light. Preparations containing vitamin C, essential oils, or other light-sensitive ingredients are better filled into an amber or blue bottle, or stored away from direct sunlight. For clear tonics without sensitive ingredients, transparency is an advantage.

Higher concentrations of essential oils, certain solvents, and strong fragrance compositions can stress the plastic over time. For sprays with a higher proportion of fragrance ingredients, we recommend testing the packaging with the specific formulation on a smaller trial batch before starting a larger production run.

At the end of its service life, the PET bottle belongs in sorted plastics. The spray pump with the metal collar is a mixed-material component and is less easily processed in standard sorting.

The set is not intended for contact with food. Do not fill it with syrups, cooking oils, or beverages; the packaging is declared for cosmetic products.

Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosing, and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 250 ml plastic bottle with spray pump suitable for oil serums?
No, the mechanical spray pump is designed for thin water-based and alcohol-based liquids and will not spray oils into a mist. Oil either flows out in a stream or clogs the pump. For oil serums and body oils, we recommend a bottle with a pump or dropper. The exception is very thin blends with a high alcohol content, which need to be tested individually.
Does the transparent recycled PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, transparent PET lets light through and does not protect the contents from UV radiation. It is suitable for tonics, hydrolates without light-sensitive ingredients, and cleaning or disinfectant sprays stored out of sunlight. For preparations with vitamin C, essential oils, or other photosensitive substances, choose an amber or blue bottle.
How much liquid fits in the bottle with a nominal volume of 250 ml?
The bottle is designed to hold 250 ml, which is the nominal volume stated on the label. It is physically larger when filled to the brim, but the headspace is needed for the spray tube, air, and expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If overfilled, the contents would overflow through the neck when the spray pump is screwed on.
Can the bottle and spray pump set be reused?
Yes, both the PET bottle and the mechanical spray pump can be rinsed and refilled after emptying. Before refilling, we recommend disinfecting both parts with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing them to dry. When switching the type of preparation, for example from alcohol-based to water-based, also flush the tube and nozzle to prevent any residues from mixing.
Is the plastic bottle with spray pump compatible with alcohol-based and disinfectant solutions?
Yes, the set is also designed for ethanol and isopropyl alcohol solutions commonly used in disinfectant and cleaning sprays. Caution is warranted with a high proportion of essential oils or strong fragrance compositions, which can stress the plastic over time. In such cases, we recommend testing the packaging behaviour on a smaller trial batch.
