Product description
The white glass medicine bottle with a white and gold dropper is a ready-to-use set for serums, face and hair oils, oil blends with essential oils and tinctures, that is, for preparations dispensed drop by drop. Opaque white glass blocks light, which helps protect oils and active ingredients that are sensitive to light and oxidation. The 100 ml volume suits a larger pack of massage or body oil, an oil hair serum, or a home stock of herbal macerated oils for your own use.
The length of the dropper is matched to this medicine bottle, so the contents can be drawn up comfortably even when the level is low. The bottle and the dropper have the same neck finish, so you only need to fill the set and screw it on.
What the set is suitable for
- Face and hair serums – drop-by-drop dispensing lets you apply a small amount directly to the skin or the palm of your hand without spilling.
- Face, body and massage oils – opaque glass protects vegetable oils that are prone to yellowing.
- Oil blends with essential oils – glass does not react with essential oils, and the dropper makes it easier to mix blends precisely, drop by drop.
- Tinctures and alcohol extracts – for homemade cosmetics where a few drops are added to the finished product.
- Anhydrous active concentrates – for example, oil solutions of vitamin E or coenzyme Q10, which are added to emulsions in small amounts.
Nominal and total volume
When filling, follow the nominal volume. The bottle is intended for standard filling up to 100 ml, and the dropper, once screwed on, is designed for exactly this volume. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between the two values is a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which pushes part of the contents upwards when closing, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.
A bottle filled to the brim will overflow when the dropper is screwed on, because the tube pushes the contents above the neck. Fill up to the nominal volume and screw the dropper on slowly.
How to use the dropper
The dropper consists of a glass tube, a silicone bulb and a gold aluminium part. Squeezing the bulb pushes out the air, and when you release it, the tube draws up the contents; further gentle squeezing dispenses them drop by drop. The size of a drop depends on the viscosity of the contents. Thin tinctures drip faster than viscous oils, so for recipes specified in drops, allow for your own conversion for the particular preparation.
Hold the bottle upright when dispensing, and after use return the tube to the bottle without letting it touch the skin. Residues of the product on the thread may become sticky over time; simply wipe them off when filling or after use.
Good to know
Before filling for the first time, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual moisture in an oil-based or anhydrous preparation reduces its stability and promotes the growth of microorganisms.
When disinfecting, do not forget the inside of the silicone bulb. Draw ethanol into it several times, squeeze it out and leave the dropper to dry with the tube pointing down.
The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics; you will find the declaration of conformity with the product. This set is not intended for food, and neither the bottle nor the dropper has a food contact certificate.
Glass withstands essential oils, alcohol and vegetable oils without any change. With a higher proportion of undiluted essential oils or solvents, we recommend monitoring the silicone bulb of the dropper over the long term, as some concentrated ingredients may change its elasticity over time. Do not fill the bottle with hot contents; glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes and may crack. After washing and disinfection, the bottle and the dropper can be used repeatedly.
If you want a closure other than the dropper supplied, choose closures with the same 18/410 neck finish. You will find ready-made bottle and closure combinations in the Handymade range; for your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation. When recycling, put the bottle in the glass recycling. The dropper is made of several materials, so before disposal separate the glass tube from the bulb and the metal part.
