FAQ – Most frequently asked questions

Can this glass vial with spray pump be used repeatedly?

Yes, the packaging can be reused if correct hygiene principles are observed. Before each new filling, the bottle and the spray pump must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected in order to minimise the risk of microbial contamination of the contents. For disinfection, we recommend using a suitable alcohol-based agent, for example isopropyl alcohol in cosmetic grade or denatured ethanol. On Handymade you will find, for example, IPA 99 % isopropyl alkohol or etanol 96 % denaturovaný rastlinný, which are suitable for professional preparation and hygiene of packaging.

How should the bottle and spray pump be properly cleaned and disinfected before refilling?

We recommend first rinsing the bottle with the residual carrier (for example with clean oil or water, depending on the original formulation), then washing it with a suitable cleaning agent and thoroughly rinsing with drinking water. After drying, it is appropriate to disinfect the inner surface and the thread with alcohol, for example using the product IPA 99 % isopropyl alkohol or etanol 96 % denaturovaný rastlinný. For the spray pump it is important to flush the dip tube and mechanism with clean water and then with alcohol, and only refill the packaging once it is completely dry.

How can I safely dispose of or recycle this vial if I do not want to use it repeatedly?

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend placing it in sorted waste according to the material specified in the product parameters. The glass part of the vial, after removing any remaining contents and any label, is placed in the appropriate glass container. The spray pump, which consists of a combination of plastic and metal components, is usually suitable for municipal waste, unless another recommendation is explicitly stated in the parameters. Before disposal, it is advisable to empty the packaging as much as possible so that residues of concentrated preparations do not enter the waste.

For which types of products is the spray pump most suitable in terms of consistency and use?

The spray pump is most suitable for low-viscosity liquids such as aqueous solutions, hydrolats, gentle toners, light facial and body sprays or alcoholic blends. It provides fine, even spraying onto the skin or into the air. Thick emulsions, gels or oils with high viscosity can reduce the quality of spraying or partially clog the mechanism, therefore for such formulations a pump or dropper type of dosing is recommended according to the product parameters.
