Product description

White glass medicine bottle, oral sprayer, 100 ml

A ready-made set for sprays that need to be applied precisely to a small area: a white glass medicine bottle with a capacity of 100 ml and an oral sprayer with a long application nozzle. White glass is opaque, so it shields the contents from light and is suitable for water-based, alcohol-based and hydrosol formulations. The pump sprays in small doses, so the set is used mainly for mouth sprays in the cosmetic category, scalp sprays and preparations where an ordinary sprayer would cover too large an area.

Both the bottle and the pump are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Neither component has a food-contact certificate, so the set is not intended for syrups, herbal infusions or any other contents meant for consumption.

What the set is suitable for

  • Mouth sprays and breath fresheners – cosmetic breath-freshening preparations, where the nozzle directs the mist straight into the mouth without spraying the surroundings.
  • Scalp sprays – toners with extracts or hydrosols reach through the hair to the scalp via the long nozzle, an area an ordinary sprayer has difficulty reaching.
  • Targeted application to small areas – local toners and preparations where each dose should be equally small and repeatable.
  • Hydrosols and water-based serums – opaque glass lets through less light than clear glass, which you will appreciate with formulations containing sensitive active ingredients.

How the pump works

The oral sprayer is a mechanical pump. Pressing it draws the contents up through the tube and sprays them through the long nozzle. One press releases approximately 0.1 ml, which is an appropriate dose for mouth and local sprays, where a large amount should not be applied at once. The tube reaches the bottom of the bottle, so almost all of the contents can be used without tilting the bottle.

The pump is made of polypropylene (PP) and screws directly onto the 18/410 neck finish of the bottle, so no other closure is needed. After screwing it on, prime the pump by pressing it several times until the tube fills and it starts to release an even mist.

A mechanical pump with a narrow nozzle is designed for thin contents. It sprays water-based, alcohol-based and hydrosol formulations evenly, whereas thick serums, oils or emulsions may clog the nozzle or come out as a stream instead of a mist. For every new formulation, we recommend testing the spray on a single unit first.

Good to know

The nominal capacity of 100 ml is the volume the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The brimful capacity listed in the parameters is the physical volume up to the rim of the neck. The difference provides room for the pump tube and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. Fill to the nominal capacity, not to the brim, otherwise the contents would overflow when the pump is screwed on, because the tube extends into the bottle.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the pump, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. It is advisable to rinse the tube and the nozzle with clean water so that no residue of the disinfectant gets into the first doses. Do not fit the pump onto a damp bottle, as residual water dilutes the contents and may compromise their microbial stability.

Contents with essential oils or a higher proportion of alcohol should be tested with the pump beforehand. Glass is resistant to them, but the behaviour of the plastic parts of the pump during long-term contact with concentrated essential oils or solvents needs to be verified on the specific formulation.

The glass bottle does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Let hot contents cool before filling, and do not put the bottle in the freezer or on a direct source of heat.

Reuse is possible. Once empty, the bottle is washed and disinfected in the same way as before the first filling, and the pump is rinsed with warm water through both the tube and the nozzle. If residues of a formulation with a strong fragrance or active ingredients remain in the pump, a new pump is more suitable for new contents, because they cannot always be completely removed from the tube.

For recycling, unscrew the pump and dispose of it as plastic; the bottle belongs with glass.

Frequently asked questions

Is the glass bottle with an oral sprayer suitable for food syrups or herbal infusions?
No, the set does not have a food-contact certificate. Both the bottle and the pump are declared suitable for cosmetic products, so it is used for mouth sprays in the cosmetic category and for skin and scalp sprays. For contents meant for consumption, you need packaging with a food-grade certificate, which this set does not have.
Does the white glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, white glass is opaque and lets through significantly less light than clear glass. It is therefore the better choice for sprays with hydrosols, extracts or sensitive active ingredients. The opacity also has a practical drawback: you cannot see from the outside how much of the contents is left in the bottle.
How much does the oral sprayer release per press?
Approximately 0.1 ml per press. The small dose is an advantage for mouth sprays and local application, where a large amount should not be applied at once. To cover a larger area, such as the whole face or body, this output is too small and a standard fine mist sprayer is more suitable.
What contents can be sprayed with the oral sprayer?
Thin, water-based or alcohol-based contents: hydrosols, toners, aqueous solutions of active ingredients and mouth sprays. A mechanical pump with a narrow nozzle cannot handle thick serums, gels, emulsions or oils, as such contents come out as a stream or clog the nozzle. For formulations with a thickener or a higher proportion of glycerine, we recommend testing the spray on a single unit first.
Can a closure other than the oral sprayer be used on the 100 ml glass bottle?
Yes, the bottle has an 18/410 neck finish, and you will find closures with the same neck finish, as well as other ready-made combinations, in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend checking the seal and the dispensing with your specific formulation, because every closure works with a different density of contents and dispenses differently.
