Product description

Crackling wooden wick is a special packaging component intended for the production of scented and massage candles in glass containers, jars or pots. Thanks to stable burning and the typical gentle crackling, it creates a unique sensory experience and is suitable for candles with various types of waxes, ideally in combination with high-quality cosmetic or decorative packaging. The wooden wick ensures even burning of the wax and an aesthetic appearance of the final product.

Possible uses

  • Production of decorative candles in glass vials, medicine bottles, jars and pots
  • Candles with natural waxes (for example soy, rapeseed, palm or beeswax)
  • Scented candles with the addition of essential oils and perfume compositions
  • Massage candles in low containers, suitable for direct pouring and application to the skin
  • Premium gift candles in designer containers, suitable for gift sets with cosmetics
  • Small test batches of candles to verify formulations and the behaviour of various waxes

Packaging benefits

  • Material stability – the wooden wick is rigid, holds its shape well and, with the correct length, ensures controlled burning of the candle.
  • Aesthetic and premium look – the natural wooden design gives the candle a modern, minimalist and artisanal character.
  • Characteristic crackling – creates the feeling of a fireplace burning and increases the perceived value of the product, especially for relaxation and aromatherapy candles.
  • Even burning – with a correctly chosen wick width, wax and container, it supports even melting of the wax without significant tunnelling.
  • Universal use – suitable for various types of candle containers: glass vials, jars, pots or ceramic containers.

Combining with closures and dispensers

The wooden wick is intended for use in combination with a suitable candle container – for example a glass vial, medicine bottle, jar or pot, and is attached using a special base or glue intended for candles. The candle containers themselves can, after the wax has burned out, continue to be used as practical cosmetic packaging, smaller jars or decorative containers. When choosing a suitable container for pouring candles, we recommend taking into account the shape, diameter and heat resistance of the material and always carrying out your own burn test with the specific wax blend and fragrance.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions

How to choose the right wooden wick for a specific container and wax?

The choice of wooden wick depends mainly on the diameter of the container, the type of wax and the amount of fragrance. For wider containers, a wider or possibly double wick is suitable, while for narrower containers a narrower wick is sufficient. We recommend starting with a trial batch – pour several candles with different combinations and test the burning (burn time, flame height, crackling and even melting of the wax). You will find the optimal setting by gradually fine-tuning the formulation, while always monitoring the behaviour of the wick at the first and repeated lighting.

How to properly prepare the container for pouring a candle with a wooden wick?

The container (glass vial, jar, pot or other container) must always be mechanically cleaned, degreased and checked for integrity before filling. The wick is usually fixed with a metal base or suitable heat-resistant glue in the centre of the bottom to ensure even burning. After fixing the wick, the container is placed stably on a flat surface and then filled with wax at the recommended temperature. Before first use, it is advisable to allow the candle to cure sufficiently in accordance with the recommendations of the wax manufacturer.

Is it possible to reuse the container after the candle has burned out?

Containers used with candles can be reused if hygiene principles are observed, for example for another candle or as cosmetic packaging (e.g. for balms or loose products). Wax residues must be gently removed, the surface thoroughly cleaned and, before refilling, the container must always be cleaned and disinfected. For disinfection, we recommend using isopropyl alcohol or ethanol of a quality suitable for cosmetic use, available as IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol and Ethanol 96 % denatured vegetable. After correct preparation and disinfection, you obtain a clean container ready for new use.

How to safely dispose of or recycle the container after using the candle?

If you decide not to use the container with the remaining wax and wick any further, we recommend emptying it first – mechanically remove the wax and dispose of the residues in household waste. The container itself should then be recycled according to the material specified in the product parameters, for example as glass, plastic or metal. The recycling symbol and material type can always be found in the technical description of the packaging on the product page. By following the recommended waste separation, you reduce the environmental burden and support further use of materials.

You offer many types of packaging – how can I find the right one for my product?

To select a suitable vial, jar or pot, we recommend using the extended filter in the packaging categories. After clicking into a specific category (for example glass packaging, plastic packaging or cosmetic bottles), you will find the filter at the top of the page. You can conveniently filter by neck type, packaging size, colour and material, which allows you to narrow the offer only to those packages that meet your formulation, design and the intended method of use.
