Crackling wooden wick is a special packaging component intended for the production of scented and massage candles in glass containers, jars or pots. Thanks to stable burning and the typical gentle crackling, it creates a unique sensory experience and is suitable for candles with various types of waxes, ideally in combination with high-quality cosmetic or decorative packaging. The wooden wick ensures even burning of the wax and an aesthetic appearance of the final product.
The choice of wooden wick depends mainly on the diameter of the container, the type of wax and the amount of fragrance. For wider containers, a wider or possibly double wick is suitable, while for narrower containers a narrower wick is sufficient. We recommend starting with a trial batch – pour several candles with different combinations and test the burning (burn time, flame height, crackling and even melting of the wax). You will find the optimal setting by gradually fine-tuning the formulation, while always monitoring the behaviour of the wick at the first and repeated lighting.
The container (glass vial, jar, pot or other container) must always be mechanically cleaned, degreased and checked for integrity before filling. The wick is usually fixed with a metal base or suitable heat-resistant glue in the centre of the bottom to ensure even burning. After fixing the wick, the container is placed stably on a flat surface and then filled with wax at the recommended temperature. Before first use, it is advisable to allow the candle to cure sufficiently in accordance with the recommendations of the wax manufacturer.
Containers used with candles can be reused if hygiene principles are observed, for example for another candle or as cosmetic packaging (e.g. for balms or loose products). Wax residues must be gently removed, the surface thoroughly cleaned and, before refilling, the container must always be cleaned and disinfected. For disinfection, we recommend using isopropyl alcohol or ethanol of a quality suitable for cosmetic use, available as IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol and Ethanol 96 % denatured vegetable. After correct preparation and disinfection, you obtain a clean container ready for new use.
If you decide not to use the container with the remaining wax and wick any further, we recommend emptying it first – mechanically remove the wax and dispose of the residues in household waste. The container itself should then be recycled according to the material specified in the product parameters, for example as glass, plastic or metal. The recycling symbol and material type can always be found in the technical description of the packaging on the product page. By following the recommended waste separation, you reduce the environmental burden and support further use of materials.
To select a suitable vial, jar or pot, we recommend using the extended filter in the packaging categories. After clicking into a specific category (for example glass packaging, plastic packaging or cosmetic bottles), you will find the filter at the top of the page. You can conveniently filter by neck type, packaging size, colour and material, which allows you to narrow the offer only to those packages that meet your formulation, design and the intended method of use.
