Product description

Fragrance oil Vôňa Vianoc is a perfume composition for scenting cosmetics, soap, candles and household products. It is supplied as a concentrate of European origin and is added to the product in small amounts according to IFRA limits for the given type of product.

The composition has cosmetic quality and defined IFRA limits for common product categories, from facial and body cosmetics through shower preparations to candles and diffusers. In cold process soap it has passed a practical test by an experienced soap maker.

Behaviour in formulation

The fragrance oil does not dissolve in water, it dissolves in oils and alcohol. In emulsions and anhydrous products, it is sufficient to mix it into the oil phase or directly into the finished base. In aqueous systems, such as tonics, room sprays or clear shower gels, it needs a solubiliser, otherwise it will form oil spots on the surface or cause cloudiness.

It is added in the cooling phase below 40 °C, or as an additional ingredient to the finished product. At higher temperatures, part of the volatile fragrance components is lost. In an emulsion it therefore belongs only after the base has formed, when the mass is no longer hot, and is mixed in with continuous stirring.

The maximum dosage is not a single number. It is governed by the IFRA category to which the finished product belongs: a different limit applies to a lip balm, a different one to a body lotion and a different one to a candle or bar soap. The limits for individual categories are listed with the product — before designing a formulation, check the one that corresponds to your product.

The concentrate is yellow and at higher dosages may affect the shade of a white or clear product. With light creams and balms, make a test batch and assess the colour after 24 hours.

Cold process soap

In a practical test in cold process soap, the fragrance oil did not accelerate trace and the mass did not thicken during mixing. It can therefore be added in the usual way at light trace and enough time remains for layering, swirling or pouring into shaped moulds.

You need to account for colouring of the mass: the fragrance significantly coloured the soap mass orange. For a white or pastel design this may not be suitable. For autumn and winter shades, the orange undertone can be used as a colour base without additional pigment.

The soap maker who tested the fragrance ranked Vôňa Vianoc among their favourite soap fragrances for its pleasant character.

Suitable for products such as

  • Cold process bar soap – verified behaviour in the mass, no trace acceleration.
  • Body lotions, creams and butters – mix into the oil phase or into the cooled emulsion.
  • Shower gels, bath salts and bath bombs – rinse-off products with their own IFRA limit.
  • Candles, wax melts and diffusers – festive home fragrance according to IFRA category 12.
  • Household cleaning products – scenting products for hand dishwashing or all-purpose cleaners.
  • Hobby products – scented sachets, decorative waxes and similar seasonal items.

Good to know

  • Allergens – the composition contains fragrance allergens listed in Annex III of the Cosmetic Products Regulation. Please take this into account when labelling the finished cosmetic product.
  • Classification of the concentrate – the undiluted fragrance oil is subject to CLP and carries the GHS07, GHS08 and GHS09 pictograms. Details are given in the safety data sheet.
  • Regulatory compliance – the product does not contain nanomaterials, microplastics, parabens, palm oil-derived ingredients or GMOs, and has not been tested on animals.

Work with the undiluted concentrate in a well-ventilated area and protect skin and eyes. Safe handling, first aid and the composition of classified ingredients are described in the safety data sheet.

Frequently asked questions

Is Vôňa Vianoc fragrance oil suitable for cold process soap?
Yes, in a practical test in cold process soap it did not accelerate trace and the mass did not thicken. However, you need to account for the fact that the fragrance significantly colours the soap mass orange, which is most noticeable with a white or pastel design. With darker and winter colour combinations the colouring is not a problem and can be used instead of pigment.
Is Vôňa Vianoc soluble in water?
No, Vôňa Vianoc fragrance oil does not dissolve in water. It dissolves in oils and alcohol. It is therefore added to aqueous products, such as tonics, room sprays or clear gels, together with a solubiliser, which disperses the fragrance and prevents cloudiness or separation of an oil layer.
How much Vôňa Vianoc fragrance oil is added to a cream or soap?
The dosage depends on the IFRA product category — it is not a single fixed percentage. Each category, from lip balms through body creams to bar soaps and candles, has its own maximum limit listed with the product. Set the formulation according to the limit for your product type and adjust the intensity with a test batch.
At what temperature is Vôňa Vianoc added to the product?
The fragrance oil is added at a temperature below 40 °C, i.e. in the cooling phase or into the finished base. At higher temperatures, part of the volatile components is lost and the fragrance changes. It belongs in an emulsion only after cooling, when the mass is no longer hot, and is mixed in with continuous stirring.
Can Vôňa Vianoc be used in candles and diffusers?
Yes, the composition has a defined IFRA limit for category 12, which includes candles of all types and automatic room sprays, and is also intended for diffusers. The dosage is governed by the limit for this category. Verify the fragrance intensity in a specific wax on a test candle.
