Wooden candle wicks – crackling, quiet and Booster

Wooden wicks give a candle a distinctive look and the typical crackle. They come into their own in soy and blended waxes, and in larger widths they create a wide melt pool without combining two cotton wicks. The category holds 63 items – from a narrow 6.4 mm up to 25.4 mm – including metal stands for centring. Every product comes with SDS and CoA documentation.

Lines and shapes

• .01 spiral: a spiral wick 9.5 mm wide, sold singly and in packs of 100.
• .02 coloured and cross: wicks in widths of 12.7 and 19.1 mm in coloured versions (white, red, black, blue, green, yellow) and cross wicks in widths from 7.93 to 19.1 mm.
• .03 crackling and quiet: crackling wicks in widths of 6.4 to 15.9 mm including short versions, a 12.7 mm quiet wick with no crackling sound, and higher-output Booster versions.
• .04 Booster, doubled and Ultimate: the high-output line in widths of 6.4 to 25.4 mm – crackling, doubled, plus Booster and Ultimate versions for wide containers and more demanding formulas.

Stands and centring

A wooden wick has to stand upright and exactly in the centre. The range includes metal stands for both flat and cross wicks. Always choose the stand to match the shape of the wick, and keep it upright while you pour.

How to size a wick

For containers over 9 cm, reach for the wider sizes, or for a cross or doubled wick; heavy fragrances and dark colourants are handled better by a Booster. Test every formulation with the fragrance and colour you will actually use, and watch the width of the melt pool after 2 – 3 hours of burning.
