Wooden wick, .03 quiet, 12.7 mm

A wooden wick from the silent wick series is designed for candle making in containers where the flame should burn quietly and without crackling. It consists of a single wooden tab. It is supplied as a complete set with a metal sustainer that holds the wick upright at the bottom of the container.

Whether the wick is suitable for your container and wax is determined by its width and tab thickness. Always verify compatibility by doing a test burn with your specific recipe.

What sets the silent wick apart

• Quiet burn – a single-layer tab burns without the typical crackling sound. Suitable for candles meant to create a calm, undisturbing atmosphere.
• Tab thickness .03 – this is the manufacturer's designation. A higher number indicates a thicker tab.
• Certified wood – according to the manufacturer, this is a natural, biodegradable material free from allergens.
• Sustainer included – a metal sustainer with a round base keeps the wick upright at the bottom of the container.

Use in candle making

Insert the wick into the sustainer and secure the sustainer to the centre of a dry, clean container base. Pour the wax as usual. The sustainer keeps the wick upright so it stays centred in the container as the wax solidifies.

Before the first lighting, trim the wick so that only a short length protrudes above the wax surface. Length can be adjusted with scissors or wick trimmers.

Choosing the right wick size

The right size depends on the diameter of the container, the type of wax, and the amount of fragrance oil and dye used. The same width therefore cannot be recommended for all recipes.

If the wax only melts in the centre and a tunnel forms, the wick is too small for the container. If the flame is tall and the container heats up noticeably, choose a smaller wick.
