Product description
Crackling wooden wick is a special packaging component intended for the production of designer candles, in which the aesthetic experience is combined with the gentle sound of crackling wood. Thanks to the naturally stable material and precise processing, it is suitable for use in various types of containers – from glass and ceramic containers to decorative jars intended for pouring with wax. When properly combined with high-quality wax and a suitable container, it ensures even burning and a pleasant atmosphere.
Possible uses
- Production of hand-poured candles in glass vials, jars, pots and other decorative containers
- Designer candles in ceramic containers with an emphasis on the natural appearance of wood
- Aromatherapeutic candles with essential oils, in which the crackling of the wick completes the relaxing atmosphere
- Candles intended as gift sets in combination with original packaging and printing
- Test and sample candles in smaller containers when developing new fragrances and wax blends
Packaging advantages
- Material stability – the wooden wick is made from solid wood which, when used correctly, burns in a stable way and helps to maintain a consistent flame in various types of containers.
- Protection and comfort during use – even burning supports optimal melting of the wax, thereby reducing the risk of tunneling and increasing a safe and comfortable experience when using the candle.
- Universal use – suitable for glass, ceramic and metal containers, so you can match the packaging (vial, jar or pot) with the character of the brand.
- Aesthetic and natural look – the wooden element naturally complements both minimalist and rustic packaging and increases the perceived value of the final product.
Combining with closures and dispensers
- The wooden wick is intended for use in containers without a closure during the burning of the candle, but for storage it is possible to use suitable lids or protective covers depending on the type of selected container.
- When choosing a glass vial, jar or pot, we recommend taking into account the diameter, height and overall geometry of the container so that the wick is efficient and safe.
- Combinations of packaging and closures that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend performing your own compatibility test (sealing, dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging in contact with the specific formulation).
Technical parameters
- All technical parameters of the packaging are given in the enclosed Packaging Quality Certificate and in the product parameters.
- Before including in serial production of candles, we recommend carrying out your own burn tests in specific containers and with the type of wax used.
- Always verify the correct wick length and container diameter by practical testing, in order to achieve an optimal flame and wax consumption.
FAQ – Most frequent questions
When choosing a wooden wick, the internal diameter of the container and the type of wax used are particularly important. We recommend starting by testing in the container in which you plan the final product and observing whether the wax melts evenly up to the edge without excessive smoking or a too small flame. For wider containers it is sometimes necessary to use several wicks side by side. Before serial production always test several combinations in order to find the optimal solution for your specific blend of wax and fragrance.
The wooden wick is primarily intended for single use within the lifetime of one candle. However, if during pouring the wick remains in good condition, it is technically possible to leave it in the same container and top up the wax. Always observe whether there has not been excessive charring or damage which could affect the safety of burning. Even when re-pouring the candle, we recommend maintaining an appropriate wick length by trimming it before each lighting.
The intensity of crackling depends on the combination of wick, wax and size of the container. In general, when the correct wick size is chosen for the diameter of the container and a high-quality wax blend is used, a characteristic gentle crackling sound is produced. For a better effect it is important to ensure that the flame is neither too small nor too large and that the wax evenly melts the surroundings of the wick. We recommend trying several types of waxes and fragrance concentrations until you find a combination that will meet your requirements for the sound and the appearance of the flame.
After the candle has burned out, let the container cool down completely and remove the remaining wax mechanically or by gentle melting at a low temperature. Then clean the container and you can reuse it for another candle or for other purposes in the household. If you decide not to reuse it, follow the recycling rules according to the material of the container stated in the product parameters – glass containers belong in glass collection, metal containers in metal waste and appropriately marked plastic containers in the respective sorted collection. The wooden residue of the wick can be removed and disposed of in mixed or biodegradable waste according to local rules.
To select a suitable vial, jar or pot you can use the extended filter, which is located in the upper part of the page after clicking on the selected packaging category. In the extended filter you can conveniently set parameters such as neck type, size, colour and packaging material. Thanks to this, you will quickly find a suitable container for candles with a wooden wick, as well as for other cosmetic or decorative products that you plan to produce.
