Product description

The aluminium bottle with a mini trigger sprayer is a complete set for sprayable cosmetic products: a bottle with a nominal volume of 225 ml and a clear sprayer with a smooth collar for a 24/410 neck finish. Aluminium does not let light through, the bottle is lightweight and it does not break when dropped. This is appreciated above all by those who pack products for travel, for the bathroom or to send to customers. With each press the sprayer releases a small, even amount of liquid, so the set is suitable for toners, hydrosols, body and hair sprays, air fresheners and low-viscosity alcohol-based products.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Handymade issues an EU declaration of conformity for it.

What it is suitable for

  • Facial toners and hydrosols – water-based products applied by fine spraying directly onto the skin; the opaque bottle protects plant waters from light.
  • Body and hair sprays – thin water-based or water-alcohol formulations where even dispersion matters.
  • Air fresheners and home sprays – alcohol-based or water-based mixtures with solubilised fragrance for interiors or textiles.
  • Alcohol-based products – for example hand sprays or toners containing alcohol, where the 225 ml volume suits both home and smaller workshop packs.

The sprayer works with liquids close to water. Thick emulsions, oils or gels will not pass through the nozzle, or they may block it.

The bottle and sprayer in practice

An aluminium bottle does not let light through. The contents cannot be seen, but they are protected from light, which changes the fragrance and colour of sensitive ingredients. Thanks to its low weight, the set suits products that are carried in a bag or sent by post.

The clear polypropylene (PP) sprayer has a smooth collar without ribbing, so it looks clean and is easy to wipe. It draws the contents up through a tube that reaches the bottom of the bottle and, when pressed, disperses the liquid into a fine stream. The mini trigger sprayer works without a propellant; the dose is created only by the pressure of the pump.

The sprayer tube is supplied longer than the height of the bottle. Before the first filling, shorten it with a diagonal cut so that it ends just above the bottom, otherwise it will bend and the sprayer will not draw up the last millilitres.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the tube and the body of the sprayer and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill up to the nominal volume. If you fill to the brim, part of the contents is pushed out when the sprayer is screwed on, or the packaging does not seal properly.

Good to know

Before first use, wash the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with isopropanol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the bottle dilutes the contents.

Aluminium bottles are commonly used in cosmetics for both water-based and alcohol-based contents. Before larger production, we recommend checking compatibility with your specific formulation on a single bottle of the finished product, especially with strongly acidic or alkaline products and preparations with a high proportion of essential oils. Also test whether the sprayer seals with your product, does not drip and delivers a consistent dose.

With one press the sprayer releases approximately 0.3 ml. For perfumed and alcohol-based sprays, take this dose into account when designing the concentration.

The set is intended for cosmetic use and is not declared for contact with food. The bottle can be refilled after washing and disinfection. Before further use, rinse the sprayer with warm water and let it dry so that no residues of the previous product remain in the tube. You will find closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the sealing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

The aluminium bottle belongs in metal recycling, the polypropylene sprayer in plastics. Separate the two parts before disposal.

Frequently asked questions

Does the aluminium bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, aluminium is completely opaque, so the contents are not exposed to sunlight or artificial light. It is therefore suitable for hydrosols, toners with plant extracts and perfumed sprays, whose fragrance and colour change more quickly under the influence of light. The opacity also has a practical consequence: the level of the contents cannot be seen, so the remainder is estimated by weight.
What products can be filled into an aluminium bottle with a mini trigger sprayer?
Water-based and alcohol-based liquids with low viscosity: toners, hydrosols, body and hair sprays, air fresheners, hand sprays. The mini trigger sprayer draws the contents up through a tube and disperses them through the nozzle, so it cannot handle oils, thick emulsions or gels. We recommend checking the compatibility of aluminium with a strongly acidic or alkaline formulation in advance in the finished product.
How much liquid fits into a 225 ml aluminium bottle?
The bottle is intended to be filled up to the nominal volume of 225 ml. Physically it holds more; the total brimful volume is given in the parameters. The difference serves as a reserve for the tube and the body of the sprayer and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes, so the bottle is not filled to the brim.
Can the aluminium bottle with sprayer be reused?
Yes, both parts can be washed and refilled. Rinse the bottle, disinfect it with isopropanol or ethanol and let it dry. Spray warm water through the sprayer several times and then air, so that no residues of the previous product remain in the tube and nozzle. Before a new filling, check that the sprayer still seals and delivers a consistent dose.
Is the mini trigger sprayer suitable for alcohol-based sprays?
Yes, the polypropylene the sprayer is made of is commonly used in cosmetic packaging for water-alcohol products as well. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend testing the behaviour of the sprayer on a single piece: check that it seals, that it delivers a consistent dose and that the nozzle does not clog after several days.
