Product description

A glass dropper bottle type B, tall, with a silver matte dropper, 10 ml, is a ready-made combination of a brown glass bottle and a matte silver dropper with a glass tube. The set is designed for precise dispensing of small volumes. It is particularly suitable for facial serums, oil-based face and hair serums, essential oil blends, nail and cuticle oil elixirs, and sample or trial packaging of new formulations. Brown glass reduces light transmission and helps protect light-sensitive contents from oxidation. The dropper allows dispensing drop by drop without pouring and without finger contact with the contents.

A volume of 10 ml is practical for concentrated products used drop by drop and consumed within a few weeks. The tall, slim shape of the type B dropper bottle fits comfortably in the hand and leaves enough room for a label.

Why choose this set

  • Light protection – brown glass transmits significantly less light than clear glass, making it suitable for vegetable oils, essential oils, vitamin serums and other ingredients whose stability is reduced by light exposure.
  • Precise dispensing – the glass tube dropper draws up a small amount of the contents and allows the product to be applied drop by drop directly to the skin or into the palm. For concentrated serums and oil blends, this matters.
  • Inert glass – glass does not react with essential oils, alcohol or most cosmetic ingredients, does not retain fragrances and releases nothing into the contents that would alter its character.
  • A ready-matched pair – the dropper has the same neck type as the bottle and a length adapted to the tall dropper bottle shape. The glass tube reaches almost to the bottom, so the contents can be dispensed to the last drop.
  • Suitable for cosmetics – both the bottle and the dropper are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. A declaration of conformity is available with the product.

How the dropper works and what to watch out for

The dropper consists of a matte silver aluminium ring with a thread, a white plastic inner part, a silicone bulb and a glass tube. Squeezing the bulb fills the tube; releasing it dispenses the contents drop by drop. The drop size depends on the viscosity of the contents – thin oils and water-based serums drip faster and in smaller drops, thicker gel-based serums more slowly.

The dropper seals by resting on the neck and by the thread. When transporting or shipping, check that it is tightened and carry the bottle in an upright position. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, verify how the silicone bulb and plastic parts behave during prolonged contact with the specific formulation. The glass itself is resistant to them, but the closure is made of multiple materials.

For water-based serums and tonics, bear in mind that the dropper is not an airtight seal for long-term storage without preservation. A product with an aqueous phase in a dropper bottle requires a suitable preservative system just as it would in any other packaging.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount for which the bottle is intended for normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them is a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which when screwed in displaces some of the contents upward, and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Otherwise, when the dropper is attached, the contents will overflow through the neck and the thread will become contaminated. Exact values for both volumes can be found in the product specifications.

Preparation and reuse

Before first filling, wash both the bottle and the dropper, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water in a brown bottle is not visible and could cause cloudiness or microbial growth in an oil-based serum. Once the contents have been used up, the glass can be washed and reused. When changing the product, replace or thoroughly clean the dropper as well, since the silicone bulb may retain traces of the previous fragrance.

Apply labels to the cylindrical part of the bottle below the shoulder of the neck, where the surface is flat. Bottle dimensions can be found in the specifications. For paper labels on oil-based products, we recommend protecting them with lamination or choosing a plastic film; otherwise the oil from fingers during dispensing will soak into the paper.

Good to know

  • Food contact – the glass bottle alone has certification for direct food contact. The dropper does not have this certification, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics, not food use.
  • Heat – glass can withstand hot filling, but fit the dropper only once the contents have cooled. Warm vapours would condense in the tube and the plastic parts are not designed for high temperatures.
  • Glass is fragile – when filling larger quantities, work on a surface that cushions impact, and pack finished products with padding.
  • Recycling – the bottle goes in glass recycling. The dropper is made of aluminium, plastic, silicone and glass, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.

Closures with the same neck type, listed in the specifications, and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing performance and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the brown glass dropper bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, brown glass significantly limits light transmission, including the UV component that most accelerates oil oxidation and the degradation of sensitive active ingredients. It is not complete darkness, so store the bottle away from direct sunlight all the same. For sensitive ingredients, brown glass is a better choice than clear glass, which lets light through.
How much can the 10 ml glass dropper bottle hold?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 10 ml, not to the brim. The total volume to the neck is slightly larger, and this difference serves as a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper and for expansion of the contents. If filled to the brim, the contents will overflow when the dropper is screwed on and contaminate the thread, which will reduce the seal.
Is the glass dropper bottle suitable for essential oils and oil-based serums?
Yes, a brown glass dropper bottle is the typical packaging for oil-based serums and essential oil blends. Glass is inert to essential oils and does not retain fragrances. For concentrated essential oils or blends containing solvents, we recommend verifying how the silicone bulb and plastic parts of the dropper behave during prolonged contact with the specific formulation.
Can the glass dropper bottle be used for water-based serums and tonics?
Yes, the dropper dispenses both water-based and oil-based contents. Water-based products drip faster and in smaller drops. An aqueous phase always requires a suitable preservative system, as the dropper is not an airtight seal and the dropper tube comes into contact with air and skin each time it is used.
How to prepare the glass dropper bottle before first filling?
Wash both the bottle and the dropper, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water is not visible in brown glass, so thorough drying is especially important before filling oil-based products. Once used up, the glass can be washed and reused. When changing the product, clean or replace the dropper to prevent the fragrance of the previous contents from carrying over.
Is the glass dropper bottle set suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products. The glass bottle alone has certification for direct food contact, but the dropper does not. If you need packaging for homemade oils or infusions, choose a bottle with a closure that also has declared suitability for food contact.
