Product description
Brown plastic bottle with black disc top, 300 ml is a ready-made combination of a brown PET bottle with a volume of 300 ml and a black disc top cap with a 24/410 neck finish. The brown tint reduces light transmission, helping to protect contents with plant oils, vitamins or essential oils from premature degradation. PET is lightweight and shatterproof, so the bottle holds up in the shower and on the go. The disc top cap dispenses the contents by pressing the bottle through a small opening, so the set is best suited for liquid to medium-viscosity products – shampoos, shower gels, conditioners, body lotions, liquid soaps or massage and body oils.
How the set works
- Push-to-dispense – pressing one edge of the disc opens the outlet on the opposite side. The contents are dispensed by squeezing the bottle, and the amount is controlled by the pressure applied.
- One-move closure – pushing the disc back closes the opening. The cap is not unscrewed with each use, so the contents come into contact with air and hands only minimally.
- Light attenuation – brown PET lets through less light than clear plastic, which is a practical advantage for products with oils prone to oxidation.
- Lightweight and durable material – a PET bottle is significantly lighter than a glass bottle of the same volume and will not shatter when dropped. It is therefore suitable for wet environments and for shipping to customers.
Which products it suits
The disc top performs best with contents that flow but are not watery thin. Shampoos, shower and cleansing gels, conditioners, liquid soaps, body lotions and lighter emulsions dispense from it evenly and do not drip after closing. It is also suitable for massage and body oils or facial oil blends in larger packaging.
With very thin liquids, such as tonics, hydrolats or micellar waters, the contents may flow from the opening faster than is comfortable to use. For such products, a spray pump or another type of closure with the same thread is more suitable. Thick creams, butters and balms are difficult to dispense through the small disc top opening and are better suited to a jar or pot.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for during regular filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is always higher. The difference between them provides a reserve for the cap, the headspace above the liquid and the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If filled right to the neck, the contents would be forced out when closing and squeezing, and the disc top might not seal properly.
What is good to know before filling
- Container preparation – before first use, we recommend washing both the bottle and cap, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing to dry completely. Residual water in the container reduces the stability of anhydrous and oil-based products in particular.
- Temperature of contents – PET is not intended for hot filling. Emulsions, gels and soaps are poured into the bottle only after cooling. Hot contents may deform the bottle wall, and the container must also be protected from heat during storage.
- Essential oils and aggressive chemicals – undiluted essential oils, high concentrations of solvents or aggressive chemicals can damage the plastic. At the standard dosage of essential oils in a finished product this is generally not an issue; for atypical formulations we recommend verifying the container's behaviour in a trial fill.
- Reuse – both the bottle and the cap can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. The disc top is unscrewed for cleaning and rinsed to prevent product residue from settling in the opening.
- Labelling – light and high-contrast labels stand out well on brown plastic.
- Recycling – the bottle is made of PET and the cap of polypropylene, which are two different plastics. Before placing in the collection, the cap is unscrewed and both parts are sorted as plastic according to the rules applicable in your area.
Do not fill the bottle with hot contents and do not close it immediately after filling with a still-warm product. As the contents cool, a vacuum builds up inside the bottle, the wall may be drawn inward and the disc top may stop sealing reliably.
Before a larger batch, fill one bottle and test how the product dispenses and whether it leaks after closing. It is sometimes worth slightly adjusting the product's viscosity with a thickener based on how it behaves in the disc top.
Suitability for cosmetics and food
The set is not approved for contact with food and is intended exclusively for cosmetic and technical use. Suitability for contact with cosmetic products is declared for the disc top cap. No such declaration is available for the bottle, so before production filling we recommend verifying the container's compatibility with the specific formulation by means of a simple stability test.
Closures with the same neck type 24/410 and other ready-made bottle-and-closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. With your own combination, we always recommend verifying the seal, dispensing performance and container behaviour with your formulation.
