Product description

A ready-made set of a transparent recycled PET bottle with a capacity of 250 ml and a black disc top cap is designed for liquid and medium-viscosity cosmetic products dispensed by squeezing the bottle. The transparent wall shows the contents and the colour of the product, and the lightweight PET is suitable for the bathroom and travel.

The packaging is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set as a whole is not intended for contact with food.

How the set works

  • Disc top cap – one-finger dispensing. Pressing one side of the disc opens a small opening, the contents are dispensed by gently squeezing the bottle, and pressing the disc in the opposite direction closes the cap. When closed, the contents are protected from dust and drying out.
  • Transparent bottle – the fill level and colour of the product are visible, which is practical for coloured gels and lotions. However, it does not protect the contents from light; for light-sensitive products we recommend darker packaging.
  • Flexible PET wall – the bottle can be squeezed and returns to its shape after release, which is necessary for dispensing through the disc top. The material is lightweight.
  • Recycled material – the bottle is made from recycled PET, which reduces the consumption of new plastic.

Nominal and total volume

The bottle is designed to be filled to the nominal volume, meaning the quantity for which it is intended under normal filling conditions. The total volume to the top of the neck is physically larger. This difference is a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. It also leaves air in the bottle, which is needed for dispensing the contents by squeezing. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume is stated in the parameters.

The disc top dispenses best with products of gel or lotion consistency. Very thin, watery tonics may flow out of the opening on their own, and thick creams are difficult to push through the small opening. Check the consistency with the finished formulation before larger-scale filling.

Suitable for products such as

  • Shower gels and liquid soaps – liquid to gel consistency is dispensed precisely and without dripping.
  • Shampoos and conditioners – one-handed operation is practical in the shower, the cap closes with a press.
  • Body and face lotions – lighter emulsions pass through the opening without issues; thicker ones we recommend testing.
  • Cleansing and micellar gels – the transparent packaging shows the clarity or colour of the product.

Good to know

  • Preparation before filling – wash the bottle and cap before first use, disinfect with isopropanol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Moisture in the packaging could impair the stability of the product.
  • Filling temperature – PET is not designed for hot filling. Allow emulsions and gels to cool to room temperature before filling, otherwise the bottle wall may deform.
  • Essential oils and solvents – for products with a higher proportion of essential oils, alcohol or other solvents, we recommend verifying the behaviour of both the PET and the cap with the specific formulation, in particular the seal integrity and the appearance of the packaging after several weeks.
  • Reuse – the set can be refilled after thorough cleaning. Before reuse, check that the disc top seals properly and closes correctly.
  • With transparent packaging, bear in mind that the colour of the contents will affect the appearance of a clear label.
  • Recycling – the bottle is made of PET and the cap of PP; once empty, separate them and hand them in for plastic recycling.

Before the first sale or larger production run, carry out a leak test: place the filled set on its side and leave it for a few days at room temperature. Products with low viscosity may leak if the cap is not properly tightened.

Caps with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, and other ready-made combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing, and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

For which products is the 250 ml plastic bottle with disc top cap suitable?
It is best suited for liquid and gel cosmetic products dispensed by squeezing the bottle – shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, liquid soaps and lighter body lotions. With very thin products there is a risk of leaking from the opening, and thick creams are difficult to dispense through the disc top. It is advisable to check the consistency with the finished formulation.
Does the transparent PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, the transparent bottle does not protect the contents from light. It is intended for products where you want to show the colour or clarity of the contents and which are not light-sensitive. For products containing oils prone to oxidation or active ingredients sensitive to light, we recommend dark packaging or storage away from direct light.
Can I fill the recycled PET plastic bottle with a warm emulsion?
No, PET is not designed for hot filling. Allow the emulsion or gel to cool to room temperature before filling, as warm contents may deform the bottle wall and impair the cap seal. Do not store the filled bottle in direct sunlight or near a heat source either.
How to correctly fill a bottle with a disc top cap?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 250 ml, not to the top of the neck. The headspace above the nominal volume is left free for the cap and for the air needed to dispense the contents by squeezing. An overfilled bottle is harder to squeeze and the contents may overflow through the neck when closing.
Can the bottle and disc top cap set be reused?
Yes, after thorough cleaning the set can be refilled. Wash the bottle and cap, disinfect with isopropanol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Before refilling, check that the disc top seals properly and that the disc opens and closes easily, as residues of the previous product may clog the mechanism.
Is the 250 ml plastic bottle with disc top suitable for contact with food?
No, the set is not declared for contact with food. Both the bottle and the cap are suitable for use with cosmetic products, as confirmed by the declaration of conformity accompanying the product. For household oils, syrups or other food products, we therefore recommend choosing packaging with food-contact certification.
