A complete set of a brown plastic bottle with a volume of 200 ml and a gold disc top closure, ready to fill without searching for a cap. The brown tint reduces light transmission and helps protect light-sensitive contents, such as blends with vegetable oils, extracts or essential oils. The disc top opens with a single press and dispenses the contents without unscrewing, which is appreciated for products used daily and with one hand.

The bottle is made of PET, which is lightweight and shatterproof, making it suitable for use in the shower, for travel, and for products shipped by post. The set is designed for liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic preparations of medium viscosity.

What products is the set suitable for

The disc top works best with contents that can be dispensed by squeezing the bottle but do not flow on their own. Suitable for body lotions, light creams, shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, facial cleansing gels, and massage or body oils. Very thin contents, such as tonics or hydrolats, may flow freely when the cap is open; for these, packaging with a spray or pump is more appropriate. Very thick creams and butters are difficult to dispense through the disc top opening, and a jar or tub would serve better.

A volume of 200 ml is a common size for body and hair products where a larger amount is dispensed at a time. For serums and concentrated facial products, a smaller container with a dropper or pump is more suitable.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is designed under normal filling conditions, and it is this figure that appears on the label. Total brimful volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve that remains free for the inner part of the closure and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes, for example during transport. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

Good to know

Before first filling, wash both the bottle and the cap, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual moisture in the packaging can dilute the product and weaken its preservation. The set can be reused after thorough washing, but for products with a preservation system sensitive to contamination, new packaging is safer.

For contents with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, verify the behaviour of the material in a longer time test, as some components may gradually soften or cloud the plastic. Do not expose the packaging to aggressive chemicals. Also test the seal of the set with the specific formulation, particularly when the bottle is laid on its side, as happens in transit.

The bottle is not filled with hot contents. PET is not designed for high temperatures, and a hot emulsion can deform the bottle wall. Fill the product only after it has cooled to room temperature, typically after emulsification is complete and heat-sensitive ingredients have been added.

The aluminium shell of the cap is decorative. With prolonged contact with aggressive substances, such as strong acids or bases, the surface may change, so keep the outer part of the closure clean and wipe away any product that has dripped on it.

The bottle is made of PET and, once empty, belongs in sorted plastic waste collection. The cap combines plastic and aluminium, so separate it from the bottle before sorting.
