Product description
This set, consisting of an amber plastic bottle, 200 ml, with a clear fine mist sprayer and a glossy silver collar, is ready-made packaging for liquid cosmetics applied by spraying. Amber PET reduces light exposure, so it is particularly suitable for hydrosols, toners and herbal infusions, which lose their scent and colour faster in light. The bottle is lightweight and unbreakable, so it holds up well in the bathroom and while travelling.
The 24/410 neck finish fits the bottle precisely. The sprayer tube reaches all the way to the bottom, so the contents can be sprayed out almost to the last drop. Both components of the set are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
What it is suitable for
The sprayer disperses the contents into a fine mist, so it is designed for thin, watery liquids. The following work well:
- Facial toners and hydrosols – rose, lavender or chamomile water applied directly to the face or with a cotton pad.
- Refreshing and setting sprays – blends of hydrosol with glycerine, aloe vera juice or water-soluble active ingredients.
- Hair sprays – water-based leave-in conditioning sprays, sea salt sprays, infusions to strengthen hair.
- Alcohol-based sprays – room and fabric fragrances, deodorant sprays containing ethanol.
- Working solutions in the workshop – water or alcohol for smoothing the top layer of cold process soap, moistening powder masks or salt scrubs.
The 200 ml size makes sense for products used daily, such as toners, hair sprays or room fragrances.
The bottle and sprayer in practice
One press of the sprayer dispenses approximately 0.12 ml of the contents. A toner is therefore applied in a thin layer and a hair spray spreads along the length of the hair without soaking it. Small doses reduce product consumption and limit contact of the contents with the hands, which helps keep the contents clean during use.
The sprayer cannot handle thicker liquids, oils and cream emulsions. It either clogs or the contents come out in a stream instead of a mist. A bottle with a pump or a disc top cap is more suitable for such products.
The sprayer works only with liquids with a viscosity close to that of water. Do not fill it with oil serums, lotions or toners thickened into a gel, or at least test how they behave on a small volume first.
PET withstands normal contact with water-based and alcohol-based contents. For products with a higher proportion of essential oils, solvents or other more aggressive ingredients, check in the finished formulation that the packaging and the sprayer seal do not change in appearance or function.
Do not fill the bottle with hot contents, as PET deforms with heat. Let an infusion or toner cool to room temperature before filling.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume of 200 ml is the volume for which the bottle is intended in normal filling. The total brimful volume, stated in the parameters, is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them provides a reserve for the sprayer tube, the air above the liquid and possible expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it were filled up to the neck, part of the contents would be pushed out when the sprayer is screwed on.
Good to know
Before the first filling, prepare the packaging as you would any other. Rinse the bottle with clean water, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely upside down. Rinse the sprayer by spraying clean water through it several times and then ethanol. This also cleans the tube and the valve.
After filling, prime the sprayer by pressing it several times until the contents are drawn up and the mist is even. This is normal during first use and does not indicate a faulty closure.
The set is intended for repeated use. When the contents are used up, wash the bottle, disinfect it and fill it again. When changing the contents, for example from an alcohol-based spray to a hydrosol, clean the tube thoroughly so that residues do not mix. If the sprayer loses pressure or sprays unevenly after longer use, it is usually clogged with deposits from the contents. Spray warm water with ethanol through it or, as a last resort, replace it with a new one with the same thread.
Amber PET protects the contents from light. We still recommend using products with hydrosols and without preservative within a short time and not leaving the bottle in direct sunlight, for example on a bathroom windowsill.
Closures with the same 24/410 neck finish and other ready-made packaging and closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
At the end of its life, the PET bottle and the PP sprayer belong in sorted waste according to material. Separate the aluminium collar of the sprayer before disposal.
