Amber Plastic Bottle, White Pump, 300 ml

An amber plastic bottle with a capacity of 300 ml and a white pump make a ready-to-use set for dispensing liquid and semi-liquid products. The amber-coloured PET lets less light through to the contents, which suits formulations with vegetable oils, essential oils or light-sensitive active ingredients. The plastic is light and does not break when dropped, so the bottle works well in the shower, by the sink and when travelling.

The pump with a 24/410 neck finish dispenses a 1 ml dose with a single press. This is enough for washing hands or applying body lotion. The bottle is a convenient way to dispense liquid soaps, shower gels, shampoos, conditioners and lighter face and massage oils.

What the set is suitable for

• Liquid soaps and shower gels – the pump dispenses thinner and medium-thick gels, and the bottle withstands a humid bathroom environment.
• Body lotions and light emulsions – O/W emulsions with a more fluid consistency pass through the tube and pump head without problems.
• Shampoos and conditioners – an amber bottle with a pump is the usual choice for hair care products kept on a shelf in the shower.
• Body and massage oils – the dark plastic limits the amount of light reaching the oil, and the pump dispenses precisely, without spilling.

Thick creams, balms and butters are not suitable for the pump. The product must be fluid enough for the tube to draw it up and for the pump head to push it out. If the viscosity is borderline, we recommend filling one bottle as a trial and checking how the pump performs before larger-scale production.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold during normal filling. The total brimful volume, given in the parameters, is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between the two leaves room for the tube and the inner part of the pump, and for the contents to expand when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is filled further, part of the contents may overflow when the pump is screwed on.

Preparation and filling

Before first use, wash the bottle and the pump with warm water, optionally disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and leave them to dry completely. Residual water would dilute anhydrous products. After filling, screw on the pump so that the thread sits around the whole circumference. Then press the pump several times until the tube fills and it begins to dispense regularly.

Contact with cosmetics and food

The white pump has a declaration of suitability for use with cosmetic products and, separately, a certificate for direct food contact. No such declaration is available for the amber bottle. The set as a whole is therefore not declared as suitable for contact with food or with cosmetics. We recommend verifying suitability for a specific cosmetic formulation in the finished product. Good to know

PET tolerates both water-based and oil-based formulations. However, with a higher proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, it is worth carrying out a compatibility test and checking that the bottle wall does not turn cloudy or soften.

The bottle can be reused. Between two fillings, wash it, disinfect it and leave it to dry, including the tube, through which you should pump clean water and then air. Replace a pump that dispenses unevenly or leaks after cleaning.

The bottle is made of PET and the pump of PP. Before handing them in for recycling, you should therefore separate them and sort each one as a separate plastic.
