Product description

Plastic jar, brown with white lid, 200 ml

A brown wide-mouth PET jar and a white screw-on lid form a complete container and closure set for creams, body butters, balms, scrubs, masks and bath salts. It is designed for thicker products that are scooped with fingers or a spatula. The brown tint reduces light exposure to the contents, which helps with formulations containing oils, butters or extracts sensitive to light. PET is lightweight and shatter-resistant, making the set suitable for shipping and travel.

The set is approved for direct food contact and both its components are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. It can therefore be used not only in the workshop but also in the kitchen and for small-scale retail.

Why choose this set

  • Wide mouth – filling thick formulations requires no funnel and produces no air bubbles, and customers can comfortably scoop out the last product from the bottom.
  • Brown material – reduces light, yet the contents remain partially visible, so you can see the fill level and the texture.
  • Lid with sealing insert – sits flush on the mouth and reduces the risk of drying out or leaking when tilted. It is not, however, an airtight closure for liquid products.
  • Ready-matched combination – the container and lid share the same neck type; no searching and testing to find what fits.
  • For cosmetics and food alike – one container for the workshop, the kitchen and small-scale retail.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume for which the jar is designed for standard filling. The total volume to the brim is larger, as it includes the space up to the neck. This difference provides a reserve for the lid with its insert and for the behaviour of the contents – for example slight expansion of body butter in the heat or a volume change during solidification. Filling should therefore be done to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The product should not reach the lid insert when closing.

Practical use

The set is designed for anhydrous and emulsion products of thicker consistency: whipped body butters, balms, thick creams, masks, sugar and salt scrubs, cream deodorants, bath salts and dry blends. It is not suitable for liquid serums, oils or tonics – a bottle with a dropper or pump is more appropriate for those.

Whipped butters and balms are filled after cooling and partial solidification. PET is not designed for filling with hot material; at high temperatures it can deform. Emulsions are filled after emulsification is complete and the product has cooled, to prevent condensation from forming under the lid.

Do not pour hot balms or melted butters into the jar. Allow the product to cool to approximately room temperature or until it begins to set, and only then fill.

For contents with a higher proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, we recommend verifying the material's behaviour with the specific formulation. Leave a test jar filled for several weeks and monitor any change in colour, smell or the surface of the plastic.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash both the jar and the lid, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Moisture remaining in the container is a common source of problems with anhydrous products.

For products that are scooped with fingers, plan for preservation even in smaller-packaged emulsions. A wide mouth means more contact with air and hands than a pump or dropper.

For food use, the same rule applies as for cosmetics: fill with cooled contents.

The jar is made of PET and the lid of polypropylene with a polyethylene insert. For recycling, both components should therefore be separated and sorted as plastic.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 200 ml plastic jar with lid suitable for food?
Yes, the set is approved for direct food contact, both the jar and the lid. It is suitable for honey, nut butters, spices, salt or herb blends. The same rule applies as for cosmetics: fill with cooled contents and wash and dry the container before first use.
Does the brown jar protect the contents from light?
Partially. The brown tint of the PET reduces light exposure, so the contents are better protected than in a clear container, but not as well as in an opaque jar. For light-sensitive ingredients, we recommend combining the tinted container with storage away from direct sunlight and an antioxidant in the formulation.
Can hot body butter be poured into the 200 ml plastic jar?
No, the PET jar is not designed for filling with hot material. At high temperatures it can deform or lose the shape of the base. Allow the melted butter or balm to cool until it begins to set, and only then fill. Whipped butters are filled after whipping, meaning already cooled.
Is the plastic jar with lid leak-proof for liquids?
It seals well for thick products, but is not recommended for liquids. The lid has a sealing insert that prevents drying out and leaking when tilted, but it is not an airtight closure for oils or aqueous solutions. For liquid products, a bottle with a pump, dropper or spray is more suitable.
How is the 200 ml plastic jar cleaned and can it be reused?
Yes, the set can be reused. Wash the jar and lid with lukewarm water and a mild detergent, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Do not use hot water or a dishwasher, as PET could deform. If the insert in the lid is damaged, replace the closure.
To what height should a jar with a nominal volume of 200 ml be filled?
Fill to the nominal volume, i.e. to the level at which the product does not reach the lid insert. The total volume to the brim is larger and provides a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents in the heat. For thick products, it is worth filling by weight on a scale rather than by eye.
