Glass bottle, vial, 28 mm, white pump dispenser, 200 ml is a ready-made complete packaging and closure set for preparations dispensed without unscrewing the cap. It consists of a brown glass vial with a volume of 200 ml and a white plastic pump that delivers approximately 1 ml per press. Suitable for liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic preparations, such as body lotions, liquid soaps, shampoos or oils.

Amber glass reduces light transmission, thereby slowing oxidation and fragrance loss in oils, essential oils and preparations with sensitive active ingredients. Glass is also chemically inert, does not affect the contents and does not absorb fragrance or colour. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics; the food contact certificate applies separately to the glass bottle only.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume the packaging is intended for during standard filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them provides clearance for the dip tube and pump body, which protrude into the contents when screwed in, and for slight expansion of the fill with temperature change. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, the contents will overflow through the neck when the pump is fitted.

Which products is this set suitable for

A pump with a dose of around 1 ml is designed for liquid to medium-viscosity fills. It works well with body and facial lotions, liquid soaps, shampoos, shower and cleansing gels, massage and body oils, and light conditioners. A thick cream, butter or high-viscosity gel will not be drawn up by the pump, or it will dispense irregularly. For such products, a jar or pot is more suitable.

With a pump, bear in mind that a small residue will always remain at the bottom that the tube cannot reach. With more expensive fills, it is worth unscrewing the pump and pouring out and using the residue.

What is good to know

• Preparation before filling – wash the new packaging with warm water, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely, so that residual water does not dilute anhydrous preparations.
• Glass and heat – do not fill the bottle with hot emulsion directly from the pot; a sudden temperature change may damage the glass. Allow the contents to cool to at least a lukewarm temperature.
• Pump plastic and essential oils – for fills with a high proportion of essential oils, fragrance compounds or solvents, we recommend testing the behaviour of the dispenser with the specific formulation in a trial pack.
• Leakproofness during transport – the pump is not designed as a transport closure. Before sending the product to the customer, check that the contents do not leak when tilted or under pressure; alternatively, choose a screw cap of the same neck type for transport.
• Labelling – the smooth cylindrical wall of the vial is suitable for a label.

• Recycling – the glass bottle goes in the glass recycling; unscrew the pump before disposal and sort it as plastic.
